Position title: Senior Accountant for the Thailand Program
Location: Based in Kanchanaburi, Thailand with regular travel to Bangkok, Thailand.
Reports to: Panthera Thailand Country Director

The Organization
Panthera, founded in 2006, is devoted exclusively to the conservation of wild cats and their ecosystems. Utilizing the expertise of the world’s premier cat biologists, Panthera develops and implements global conservation strategies for the most imperiled large cats – tigers, lions, jaguars, snow leopards, cheetahs, pumas and leopards. Representing the most comprehensive effort of its kind, Panthera works in partnership with local and international NGOs, scientific institutions, local communities and governments around the globe. Panthera Thailand is part of the Panthera Network, headquartered in New York, USA.
Summary/Position Overview
Through partners, Panthera has been active in Thailand for 8 years. In February 2021, Panthera registered as an NGO in Thailand. Panthera Thailand operations are funded by international corporate, government and semi/non-government parties. At this moment, the funding to local activities is channelled through Panthera Headquarters in New York, USA. Once the financial systems of the new entity are established, the Thai entity will receive and manage donations directly. Panthera Thailand currently process up to 100 domestic and 10 international transactions per month. The Panthera financial year is aligned with the calendar year. Panthera currently uses NetSuite for book-keeping and Chrome River for expenditure reporting from staff to accounting.
Major Responsibilities
Panthera Thailand is looking for an accountant that can deliver the full range of accounting and booking services in accordance with the applicable local laws and regulations. The major responsibilities are:
End-to-end payroll processing
Enter new employee data into payroll system
Monthly submission of statutory payments
Issue payslips monthly and on ad-hoc basis
Issue EA Forms for employees’ year-end tax filing
Any other payroll related matter
Company bank account statement documentation
Reconcile bank and cash statements on a monthly basis
Provide transfer advice to payment requestee upon successful transaction via relevant platform
Prepare quarterly forecasts of revenue and expenditure
Provide monthly expenditure reports
Prepare and provide annual financial reports of actual revenue and expenditure
Reconcile individual staff accounts
Manage payment receipt documentation
Reimburse staff from corporate bank account via relevant banking software
Log monthly expenses in Airtable and Chorm River.
Prepare and submission of relevant forms to IRB
Coordinate with external tax auditor.
Building relationships
The applicant must be able to maintain to good working relationships with all Panthera and partner staff as well as government staff and other local stakeholders.
Requirements
In carrying out the duties of this post, the Accountant for the Thailand Program may encounter confidential documents and be privy to sensitive information relating to donors, Panthera strategy, and project partners and therefore will be required to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Post holder must have outstanding attention to detail for all work assigned.
The Accountant for the Thailand Program must be able to make informed and logical decisions that represent the best interests of Panthera, while being able to adapt plans whilst still achieving activities objectives.
The Accountant for the Thailand Program must be able to resolve minor conflicts encountered during work. An ability to discuss challenges and identify suitable solutions is critical.
The Accountant for the Thailand Program must be willing to occasionally ‘crossover’ and assist on other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
At least 5 years of experience in accounting for international programs. Experience with non-governmental organisations is preferred.
Advanced experience with accounting software and procedures.
A high level of proficiency in spoken and written English and Thai (TOEIC >600)
Knowledge
An advanced understanding of Thai and international accounting standards and regulations.
Skills & Abilities
To demonstrate professionalism towards sensitive and confidential information.
To comply with and promote Health and Safety policies and procedures and to undertake recommended Health and Safety training as and when necessary.
To be committed to professional self-development, through participation in in-service training as necessary for the successful carrying out of the job.
Possess advanced skills in using MS office packages, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint
A working knowledge of Chrome River and NetSuites is an advantage
An ability to manage competing priorities and delegate effectively is essential
Other Requirements
The Accountant for the Thailand Program must have the ability to travel, have a current and valid driving licence, and when necessary, be willing to work outside of normal office hours (e.g. on weekends).
