Title: Consultant - On Call Contract Interpreter

Background/IRC Summary:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises,
helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated
by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40
countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen
their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides
assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son provinces.
Scope of work
The contract interpreter will perform consecutive interpretation and written translations in support
of RSC activities, including casework and cultural orientation.
Deliverables
• The contractor will provide language support to RSC activities primarily in the following languages:
Burmese and English at the location and rate agreed upon when the assignment is offered.
• The contractor will complete all required training and orientations prior to beginning work.
• The contractor will agree in writing to adhere to IRC mandatory reporting, confidentiality, and
communications policies, as well as the Interpreter Code of Conduct, and will inform the IRC of any
deviation from these policies.
Requirements:
• Perfect command of the following languages: Burmese and fluent English.
• Professional-level writing skills in Burmese and English;
• Able to handle confidential and sensitive matters.
• Mature and good team player with positive attitude and good interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor’s degree an advantage but not required.
