Communications Officer: Visual and Graphics Artist
Mekong Institution (MI) is an intergovernmental organization that contributes to regional cooperation and integration through capacity development, dialogue, and advocacy for the acceleration of sustainable socioeconomic development and poverty alleviation in the Greater Mekong Subregion.
Founded and represented by Cambodia, P.R. China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, MI’s strategies are aligned with the core tenets of the GMS Cooperation Program Strategic Framework 2030, ASEAN Economic Community, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
MI supports these frameworks through the implementation of projects across the areas of Agricultural Development and Commercialization, Trade and Investment Facilitation, and Sustainable Energy and Environment, while addressing issues of social inclusion and vulnerability, digital economy and innovation, and labor mobility to cement holistic and sustainable development impacts in the subregion and beyond.
POSITION
We are seeking a Communications Officer to support the Communication and Knowledge Management (CKM) Unit of the Greater Mekong Community Affairs (GMCA) Department. The position will be based at the MI Headquarters in Khon Kaen, Thailand.
MAIN DELIVERABLES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND TASKS
Key Deliverables
Produce high quality and accurate visual and graphic communication materials, products, and tools
Align project materials, products, and services with MI messaging and branding
Co-management of website, social media channels, and databases
Main Responsibilities and Tasks
Support the implementation of the MI Communication Strategy and Plan
Develop and design PowerPoint presentations, infographics, brochures, reports, and collaterals, including videos
Provide design inputs in the development of project and/or program proposals, concept notes, as well as resource mobilization and promotional materials
Write and edit press releases and other institutional materials, when necessary
Co-manage the MI website, social media platforms, and databases, which include provision of write-ups and visual designs
Support the design conceptualization and implementation of institutional activities, meetings, and events
Deliver other related tasks as requested by the Executive Director and CKM Unit Head
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
Master’s degree in communications, journalism, creative writing, English, or any other related field
Excellent English writing, speaking, and comprehension skills, with the ability to reframe complex technical concepts into accessible visual forms for the public
Exceptional creativity and innovation with responsible time and management skills and attention to detail
Proven ability to work in a team and to coordinate with others
Proficient user of Microsoft Office and design applications
Willingness to live and work in Khon Kaen, Thailand
Willingness to travel within the GMS, when required
Desirable
At least three years of work experience in communications, ideally in an international setting
Video pre- and post-production skills are highly valued
Strong knowledge of GMS and development issues
Language proficiency in at least one GMS language is an asset
