Position Title: Project Accountant (Consultant)

About COAR: COAR is an independent social enterprise that directly supports practitioners, policy-makers, and donors by facilitating humanitarian and development interventions in complex, fragile, and high-risk environments.
Objective: The Project Accountant will be responsible for recording the monthly transactions into the accounting system and perform the proper cost allocation over the cost centers and budget lines in accordance with timesheets and the Cost Allocation System of the company. She/he is expected to provide support for payments, travel expenses; input expense report data; and ensure that COAR staff timesheets are accurate and submitted on time; and to assist in the update and improvement of these systems, based on experience and best practices.
Main Activities and Responsibilities:
Ensure monthly invoices are completed as required with expense reports, supported with relevant documentation;
Record monthly financial transactions in the accounting system
Proper cost allocation of each transaction to the correct cost centre and budget line;
Recording of travel expenditure as per travel policy and proper cost allocation
Manage receipts and invoices;
Organize and file corresponding documentation for accounting and audit purposes
Issue sales invoices;
Assist the finance director with ad-hoc matters as required;
Closure of monthly financial results and issue monthly projects financial reports from the system.
Requirements:
BA degree in finance, accounting or similar field;
5 years’ experience in accounting or related/similar relevant professions;
Experience in IFRS, IAS and UK GAAP
Experience in Project Costing or Accounting will be considered an advantage
Preferable professional experience in international NGO grant, finance, human resource and/or administration.
Skills and Competencies:
Knowledge of finance/accounting software (SAP Business One is a big advantage);
Excellent knowledge of excel;
Strong organizational skills;
Ability to deliver results independently under minimal supervision;
High degree of ownership over results and accountability for work outcomes and deliverables;
Fluency in written and oral English is required.
