Malteser International is a German non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for people in need in over 20 countries. Malteser International is currently working with displaced persons in temporary shelters in Sob-Moei district, Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. Our main office is located in Mae Sariang town/district in the southern part of Mae Hong Son province. Malteser International is looking at expanding its team to strengthen the capacity to respond to urgent WASH support needs in remote areas. The positions will be made available for an initial 2 months with possibility for further extension in case additional funding can be secured.

Position: WASH Assistant (1 position)

Duty Station: Mae Sariang town, Mae Hong Son province

Contract Duration: 4.5 months initially (with possibility to extend)

Work locations: Mae Sariang and Sob-Moei districts

Gross salary: 20,000 THB/month

Main Responsibilities/Duties

1. Assist the WASH Coordinator to design and set up water supply, sanitation facilities and solid waste management systems and small health posts according to SPHERE guidelines and with access to Person with Special Needs.

2. Supervise workers to construct basic facilities, water distribution network, and WASH facilities.

3. Assist WASH Coordinator to prepare Bill of Quantities and materials list for water supply, sanitation, waste management in project target locations.

4. Set-up water treatment and water quality monitoring SOPs and application suitable to target areas.

5. Assist in developing guidelines for adequate operation and maintenance of WASH and Health facilities linked to the activities carried out.

Essential Qualifications

1. University degree or equivalent on Public Health or related field.

2. Specific experience in water supply and sanitation issues in Thai rural setting

3. Experience working on water supply, sanitation, and health issues in NGO setting.

4. Basic knowledge and field experience developing BOQs and constructing buildings by using locally available construction materials.

5. Knowledge and experience of water treatment and water quality testing.

6. Facilitation skills in related to conducting community assessment, organizing and leading workshop/training.

7. Thai national who fluent in Thai and Karen (Sgaw Karen).

Position: Community Health Supervisor (1 position)

Duty Station: Mae Sariang town, Mae Hong Son province

Contract Duration: 4.5 months initially (with possibility to extend)

Work locations: Mae Sariang and Sob-Moei districts

Gross salary: 30,000 THB/month

Main Responsibilities/Duties

1. Develop health promotion curricular and promotional material on primary health care

2. Plan and organize campaign related to disease prevention and hygiene promotion

3. Supervise camp based CHWs and monitor their activities

4. Organize/facilitate monthly meeting and refresher training

5. Collect camp based data and report on monthly basis

6. Support and monitor outbreak control in holding area

Essential Qualifications

1. Proven experience in the field of social work, education, social science, public health

2. Previous experience working on CHW issues in NGO setting

3. Facilitate skills in related to community assessment, organizing and leading workshop/training

4. Fluent in Thai and Sgaw Karen, and good command of English

5. Experience in working with refugee communities in complex environment.
