The Change.org empowers people to leverage technology and build social movements that create transformational change. More than 470 million people use the site globally to make positive change in their communities on anything from fighting bullying in schools and protecting wildlife habitat to equal access to education.
In Thailand, since the launch in July 2012, we have grown to more than 5.5 million users and have become the platform of choice for people to create the change they want to see in the country.
We have an exciting opening for an exceptional 'Digital Communication Specialist' to join our Thailand team. We are interested in improving how we communicate our impact and the power of collective action, through the stories of our petition starters and their campaigns. You'll be a key part of creating rapid-response campaigns across dozens of issues – helping to grow, engage, and support our users to start and win their own campaigns.
Here's what you'll do as part of our team:
- You'll tell stories of people's power, amplifying the ability of individuals to shape society for the better, and driving engagement and impact on their campaigns.
- You’ll craft and implement the digital engagement strategy for Change.org Thailand’s social media; building and engaging online communities of active citizens on Facebook, Twitter and other relevant platforms, and tracking results to build our brand as the leading platform for people-powered change
- You’ll stay on top of news stories and current topics around social, cultural, economic and environmental issues in the country and globally, and come up with creative and impactful campaign ideas to support the campaign team
And here are the skills & experience of an ideal candidate:
- A commitment to our goal of empowering people to create the change they want to see
- A great understanding of online and offline campaigning and how social movement intersects with technology and online communications platforms
- Have a thorough understanding of the latest digital trends and tools, understand how social media marketing generates synergies with other communication channels (PR, media, etc), and have a fair share of successes and failures to learn from
- Have experience in online activism, digital campaigning for social change or online community management in using a variety of social media tools to engage an online audience
- Experience with social media analytics and online experimentation, targeting and data-driven messaging highly desirable
- Thrive on social media and have your finger on the pulse of what people are talking about online
- A strong understanding of messaging, and the judgment to repeatedly find the right message to engage an online audience with brilliant copywriting skill. Also have experience in the daily posting and management of social media accounts for a brand or organization - knowing how to make your content pop in a busy social feed
- Have experience in embedding with teams to learn, evaluate and iterate in a fast and flexible way
- High-level strategic thinker, with a strong grasp of politics and power. You understand the pressure points in Thailand and are able to make strategic decisions in fast-moving, and sometimes complex situations.
- Exceptional writing skills in Thai (native), able to craft compelling and persuasive written communication for an online audience
- Competent in English, so you can effectively participate in the Change.org global team
- At least 5 years experience working in a cross-cultural setting — preferably in social media, digital media, advocacy, campaign, civic engagement, content creation, or communications — but if you make up for lack of experience with passion and a willingness to learn quickly, you should still apply.
It’s important that you are driven and excited to join a collaborative work environment. Your co-workers are high-impact, low-ego, and have a true respect for our users and partners.
We love serving our users, and we love our staff too. We show it through competitive salaries, five weeks annual leave, robust parental leave, and a supportive culture where you’ll work alongside some of the world’s leading campaign and communications experts.
This position is based in Bangkok (but we consider other cities in Thailand, too) and is often driven by a campaign cycle, so there are times that involve long hours and times that don’t. Our culture recognises both the needs of campaigns and the need for our staff to have a life.
We are an equal opportunity employer, which means we strongly encourage any interested parties to apply – we don’t discriminate on the basis of age, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or physical disability.
If you are excited about the role and think you have the skill sets that match it, send us your application explaining why you are excited about this role and how you qualify – please apply to us directly here. Please note that the shortlist candidates will be invited to take the skill tests in Thai and English.
We will review applications on an ongoing basis, which means the position may be filled before the application closing date of February 28, 2022.
