Thailand Programme Coordinator

Reports to: Thailand Programme Manager, Minority Rights Group International
Location: Anywhere in Thailand. Location must have low risks of interference or interruptions, good internet access and good travel connections to the Southern Border Provinces (SBP). Post holder must be able to travel to project locations on work related visits without hindrance.
Duration: This is an 50% post (i.e. 2.5 days per week). This post will run from 15 March 2022 until 30 June 2023.
Salary: Grade C, 37,000 THB

A: Purpose of the job
The purpose of this post is to help Minority Rights Group International (MRGI) achieve its aims and objectives through the implementation of its program ‘Inclusive Peacebuilding in Thailand’s Southern Border Provinces”. This program is supported by the European Union and aims to realise the full protection of the rights of marginalised communities in Thailand’s deep south. The post holder will also contribute to MRG’s core principles and strategy and help develop new programmes in the Asia region.
B: Main duties and responsibilities
1. Planning
Develops and implements plans to deliver MRG’s programme entitled ‘‘Inclusive Peacebuilding in Thailand’s Southern Border Provinces” within the objectives set by the Deputy Director, in charge of overseeing the implementation of the entire project, providing supervision, advice and support to all other team members and partners. Contributes to the development and design of new programmes for additional work in the region and may then deliver new programmes if successfully developed and funded.

5. General
Undertakes such other tasks as may reasonably be requested by the Thailand Programme Manager. Participates in relevant MRG meetings. Contributes to the evaluation of MRG activities and publications. Covers for absent staff on related work as necessary. The geographical region and or thematic area covered by the job holder may need to be varied from time to time.
6. Confidential information
Responsible for maintaining confidentiality as the job holder will be entitled to a very high level of access to confidential information pertaining to partners, participants, beneficiaries and MRG's strategies, detailed financial information, and also access to sensitive external information which may impact on MRG's activities.
7. Degree of supervision
The job holder will be expected to report to the Thailand Programme Manager any variation from agreed plans and schedules, and to report regularly on the programme and projects’ progress.
8. Working conditions
MRG would expect the job holder to work from home and will cover only the costs of communications and consumables. Travel to the project location will be essential approximately 6 times per year, where the management team deem it safe to do so. The job holder may need to travel to the UK for periodic team meetings or training and must be able to obtain a UK business visit visa to do so. Travel within South or South East Asia, the UK, USA or Europe to carry out advocacy, visit donors, to give or receive training may also be necessary. The job holder is required to maintain the pace of work which may at times be high, and will need to manage several tasks simultaneously.
The work will involve sensitive and careful work with communities and a variety of NGOs in complex and insecure environments.
Although the primary purpose of this post is to coordinate and implement the currently funded programme described above, the job holder may be required to work partly or wholly on other areas of MRG’s work. This is to allow MRG to move staff away from work which is unfunded or underfunded or is no longer a priority for the organisation, to work on areas which have more funding, are growing or which are understaffed. This will normally involve the job holder in carrying out tasks similar or identical to those listed in this job description but applied to different programmes or projects.
