Main Purpose of the role

The - Volunteer Network Coordinator further our goals and vision on growth through development and implementation of people engagement strategies. He/she will work to optimize processes for online and offline engagement that would result in deeper and more impactful engagement, emphasizing impacts of people on delivery our campaign goals. The position is responsible for volunteer recruitment, development and management and for facilitating volunteer engagement to help advance our campaigns.

 

The Volunteer Network Coordinator plays a key role in finding opportunities and develop innovative engagement pathway, and build skills of volunteers. To match up skills and interest of volunteers to specific project or campaign areas across the organization, within the office and in the field  to deliver offline and online engagement activities of the local campaigns and increase our people power by working with different functions and incorporating when appropriate the participation of a network of World Animal Protection volunteers.

 

Accountabilities

  • Sustain and increase the depth of engagement. 
  • Development and implementation of people power and people engagement strategies.
  • Implementation of volunteer recruitment, development and engagement plan.
  • Management of risks related to volunteer engagement.
  • The role holder will comply with the organisation’s policies and procedures.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Functional

  • To further World Animal Protection’s campaign and engagement objectives by ensuring the development and implementation people power and people engagement strategies
  • In consultation with Programme and internal team, developing a volunteer program strategy, defining key program outcomes and implementing policies and procedures to ensure that strategic goals are met
  • Ensure there are effective systems or mechanism to recruit, retain, engage and develop our supporter base (volunteers, supporters community groups etc)
  • Planning and implementing appropriate training and support programs on an ongoing basis to move volunteers up the engagement level including developing and providing tools and support for volunteer skill advancement.
  • Assisting Management to initiate projects and organise work opportunities in order to take full advantage of various skill sets offered by volunteers.
  • Take the lead and work with internal team to identify volunteer needs and maximize the overall volunteer experience.
  • Effectively represent the organisation and its mission through speaking engagements at potential volunteer engagement forums, as needed.
  • Ensure there are existing people power movement to support our campaign goals.
  •  Champion and advocate for people power, movement building, open campaigning as part of our narrative for change within the organization and empower internal staffs to see the value and impact that “people” can create for our campaign.
  • Carry out administrative duties of volunteer engagement function e.g. budgeting, contract development, event management, Volunteer performance management, monitoring and evaluation of volunteer activities and any other tasks as reasonably requested.
  • Monitoring and evaluating volunteer initiatives and implementing new volunteer initiatives to ensure that the volunteer program throughout the organisation is maximised.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of current affairs relating to the animal welfare, campaigns, work with ICTs to identify opportunities to engage public and volunteers.
  • Raising awareness within the organisation with regard to the skills that volunteers can bring to the organisation and the type of work that can be completed by volunteers, ensuring the ongoing recognition of volunteers and their valuable contribution to the organisation.
  • Reporting on all activities relating to Volunteers activity and the effectiveness of the Volunteer program.

 

Management

  • Practice strong integrated working across functions and geography
  • Work with internal teams to identify needs and opportunities for involving volunteers in our campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain up to date database management of volunteers which facilitate effective and timely engagement.
  • Support the Country Director, Campaign Managers, Communications Manager in ensuring the development and implementation of consistent approaches that contribute to the organisation’s global strategy
  • Ensure that the volunteer program complies with World Animal Protection policies and relevant laws 

 

Finance

  • provide timely inputs for engagement activity budgets.
  • Take overall responsibility for the effective and efficient management of resources in accordance with World Animal Protection’s financial procedures and local governance regulations

 

 

Organisational responsibilities

  • Delivery of World Animal Protection’s Global Strategy across the core themes
  • Work cooperatively with external organisations, teams within World Animal Protection and in the wider animal welfare movement to pursue programme objectives and wider organisational goals, including those relating to brand, communications, fundraising and resource management.
  • Contribute to a learning culture and create a positive working environment for staff.
  • The role holder will from time to time be required to undertake any other duties that are within the scope of this role.
  • Take responsibility for their own health, safety and welfare, comply with H&S policy and procedures, and not act in any way that compromises the safety of themselves, colleagues or the public. 
  • The post holder may be required to travel internationally to provide support or participate in World Animal Protection’s activities as and when required.
  • The post holder will be required to maintain confidentiality of information. 
  • Comply with requirements related to the relevant Privacy and/or Data Protection Acts that apply to the work being conducted by the post holder (For example this may include the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and any local Privacy and Data laws and Regulations).

 

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • At least 3+ years’ experience in volunteer management and independently managing public engagement activities.
  • Strong communicator, and able to constructively engage external and internal stakeholders, to develop and deliver responsibilities of the role.
  • Fluent in Thai, excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, (Good command in English language is preferable)
  • Works well under pressure of deadlines.
  • Strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Strong management, leadership, team building, consulting and negotiation skills.
  • Team player with excellent co-ordination skills and ability to develop and maintain good working relationships across internal departments and teams.
  • People person, good interpersonal skills

 

Qualifications

  • University Degree

 

 

Desirable

  • Experience developing programme strategies and objectives
  • Programme/Project Budget development and management
  • Experience of working effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders in different cultural contexts.
  • Experience of working in NGO environment.
