Position Title:  Project Accountant

Position Description:  The Project Accountant, reporting to the Project Director through the Project Coordinator and Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, provides accounting and operations support to the project, with guidance from Head- Operation Support Department

Contract Type: Full-Time Contract

Duty station:   RIMES Regional Facility, AIT Campus, 59 Moo 9 Paholyothin Rd., Klong 1,

                        Klong  Luang, Pathumthani 12120 Thailand.

Knowledge

• At least Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles

Experience

• At least 3 years of experience, preferably in a development organization environment
• Experience in word processing, spreadsheets, and accounting software

Skills and abilities

• Strong analytical, presentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Strong service orientation
• Good attention to detail
• Proficiency in spoken and written English language

Personal qualities

• Conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines, and achieving results
• Takes ownership of all responsibilities of the position
• Excellent work ethic

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The Project Accountant shall:

• Contribute to the development of the project’s accounting system and manual
• Assist in the selection of the most appropriate accounting software for the project
• Review, process, and record payments to vendors, contractors, and consultants
• Review and process staff time sheets, advance requests, and travel expense reports
• Ensure that all payments made under the project are timely and according to contract terms and conditions as well as relevant Bank guidelines, regulations, legal agreements, and other applicable documents
• File and archive accounting documentation
• Undertake month-end and year-end closing of accounts
• Perform monthly reconciliations of bank account balances with project accounts
• Prepare financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Maintain an assets register for equipment bought using project funds
• Support annual audit
• Back up all financial data in separate secured database, with access only to authorized personnel
• Perform any other relevant duties as required

Reporting

The Project Accountant will be under overall supervision of the  Project Director. S/he will report on accounting and operations issues to Head- Operation Support Department and work closely with the Finance and Account Officer

Contract Duration

The contract will initially be for one year and will be extended upon satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary term and each annual performance review.
