Background
Save the Children International Thailand aims to contribute toward ensuring that the most vulnerable adolescents have access to the knowledge and skills needed to transition into adulthood as a strategic priority from 2021 to 2023. SCI Thailand and The Looker are implementing the USAID Achieve project which will focus on supporting the most vulnerable adolescents in the southern border provinces of Thailand. USAID Achieve will build local vocational training providers’ capacities to support vulnerable youth in Thailand’s Deep South increasing their skills, knowledge and experience necessary for improved economic opportunity. In this way, it will address a key conflict driver and offer young people a way out of the cycle of criminality and violence. By integrating a people-to-people approach at all levels of project management and activities, USAID Achieve will foster mutual understanding, trust and concrete cooperation between youth and between key people and government. USAID Achieve is looking for CSOs trainers to to deliver VT alongside VTC staff counterparts and to support VT trainees and deliver life skills modules. The reopening will fill in the gaps of trained CSOs in the first phase, and foster more systematic approach in retaining CSOs. The project will prioritize the applicants from The Looker association or its’ network. The CSO trainers will be recruited and will benefit from capacity building program in preparation to support towards VT trainers. This CSOs pool will be available and flexible to deliver VT alongside VT staff counterparts. The CSO trainer recruitment will be proceeded with the aim to select CSO trainers representing all social groups, gender, ethnic background, disability status, sexual orientation, etc.
Report to: Senior USAID ACHIEVE officer
Duration and time commitment: Minimum 20 Days (non-consecutive, July - September 2022) VT Curriculum 120 hours and Life Skills Training 30 hours
Working Hour: 08:00 – 17:00 (Flexible working hour can be discussed)
Scope of Role:
- Participate in capacity building of USAID ACHIEVE program including VT training, Life Skills training (Financial Education, Business Model Canvas, Online Marketing, Essential Life Skills for career, coaching and mentoring)
- Ensure safe classroom environment, inclusive classroom with ‘Do No Harm’ principle
- Cooperate with VT trainers to design and manage classroom that includes instruction on classroom cultural sensitivity, bi-lingual/bi-cultural teaching, mediation, communication and conflict resolution, as well as collaborative learning methods
- Identify and report Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) needs of youth who participate in the USAID ACHIEVE program based on observations and direct engagement with youth
- With support of MEAL Team, collect and share relevant training data: Accountability, Pre/Post-Test, Examination Result, Assessment and Evaluation, Inclusive Practice Endline Data which comply with Save the Children guidelines (see attached link - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1SdUp8nwqSe_l0uE_sGsFCkepIvw-9oI_)
- Monitor Youth’s participation and attendance and be able to encourage and support youth to actively participate the VT and Life Skills trainings
- Able to facilitate and support government institutions to improve cultural sensitivity and respond to youth’s needs and requirements in line with inclusive culture of the project
- Assist The Looker on preparing documentations for youth internship and SED program
- Cooperate with The Looker and Save the Children on other project activities; Life Skill training (5 days), graduation ceremony (1 day), Job Fair (4 days; 3 days for preparation, 1 day for Job Fair)
- Conduct and lead Life Skills training integrated with VT curriculum for minimum of 20 hours
- Provide support to Save the Children staff on admin, finance, logistic arrangement, accommodation as requested
Qualification
- Participated in Save the Children capacity building activities and training is preferred
- Minimum 1 year working experience
- Experience in Life Skill for Successful Transferable from School to Work (LS4ST) training and able to facilitate and lead the session
- Strong background in working with vulnerable youth (OOSC) and children in the Deep South
- Background in VT tracks (Food and Service, Welding, Tailoring, Wall Painting and Floor tiling) will be an asset
- Flexible and adapt to changes as necessary
- Time management skills
- Open-minded on cultural sensitivity and diversity background
- Ensure ethic and DoNoHarm in working with youth and children
