MI is an intergovernmental organization that contributes to regional cooperation and integration through capacity development, dialogue, and advocacy for the acceleration of sustainable socioeconomic development and poverty alleviation in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS).
Founded and represented by Cambodia, P.R. China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, MI’s strategies are aligned with the core tenets of the GMS Cooperation Program Strategic Framework 2030, ASEAN Economic Community, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
MI supports these frameworks through the implementation of projects across the areas of Agricultural Development and Commercialization, Trade and Investment Facilitation, and Sustainable Energy and Environment, while addressing issues of social inclusion and vulnerability, digital economy and innovation, and labor mobility to cement holistic and sustainable development impacts in the subregion and beyond.
Communications Coordinator, Communications and Knowledge Management (CKM) Unit
We are seeking a Communications Coordinator for Communication and Knowledge Management (CKM) Unit, reporting to the CKM Manager, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for writing MI’s communications and publications, including press releases, the Annual Report, the newsletter, and other public relations documents. This involves working in close collaboration with the Programs and senior management for information exchange and verification, in order to shape the content of communications to the target audiences. S/he additionally works with other CKM staffs for the technical implementation of communications and publications.
Main deliverables, responsibilities and tasks
Key deliverables
High quality communication and publication documents that are accurate, interesting and informative, and follow MI’s branding and graphic guidelines
Communication resources for all major MI events
Quality control of branding and creativity in communication outputs
Main responsibilities and tasks
I. Support and implement MI Communication Strategy and Plan
Write, proof-read and edit press releases, newsletters, speeches and other documents of MI publications
Oversee, edit and respond to MI social media and MI website
Manage the creative conceptualization of promotional materials such as brochures, booklets, and exhibit materials
Coordinate production schedules and maintain relationships with graphic designers, printers and photographers
Support in event organization
Assist in implementing MI’s branding and marketing strategic plans
Any other reasonable task requested by Manager.
II. Support and implement communication activities for external projects such as ASEAN Climate Resilient Network (CRN) Secretariat, GMS Knowledge Network, among others, as per the workplan. Foreseen activities include but not limited to:
Write and upload new articles for website and/ or social media
Support in event organization such as meeting, workshop or training
Produce PR or communication materials for the target audience
Promote knowledge sharing and networking among the target audience
Required qualifications, skills and experience
Essential
Master degree in communications, journalism, English, development, or other relevant fields
Strong writing skills, and ability to adapt message content to multiple audiences
Proven ability in use of high-level English language skills in written form
Proven knowledge in graphic design techniques and software applications is a plus
Strong presentation skills
Proven ability to work in a team and to coordinate with others
Proficient user of all Microsoft Office applications
Prior experience in development cooperation, international or inter-governmental organization is an asset
Willingness to live and work in Khon Kaen
Willingness to travel within the GMS if required
Desirable
Experience in communications, writing, journalism, marketing materials production, graphic design, behavior change communication
Knowledge of GMS and development issues
Skills in any of the GMS country languages
