ADRA Thailand is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Area Coordinator based in Kanchanaburi, Thailand for the Basic Education Support towards Transition (BEST) Project.

Job Overview: The Area Coordinator will work with the Project Manager and Field Officer to directly oversee and manage the implementation of the BEST project in Ban Don Yang camp in Ratchaburi province and Tham Hin camp in Kanchanaburi province along the Thai – Myanmar border. The Area Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the implementation of projects activities at the field level closely with the project staff in Mae Sot. This involves working closely with camp based staff, the field office and the support office in Chiang Mai to ensure that projects activities are implemented according to established work plans. The Area Coordinator will also build and maintain strong relationships with Thai Authorities, partner agencies and camp based staff
REPONSIBILITIES:
Manage, coordinate, implement, monitor and evaluate project activities in the two camps as assigned in accordance to the to the project logical framework and work plan as detailed in the project proposal and implemented under ADRA Thailand policies and guidelines. This includes working closely with the project team. The Area Coordinator will implement new initiatives in the camps.
Support the procurement processes, recording and reporting expenditure within camps and at the field office level.
Monitor and track activities producing monthly reports as required in accordance with the project activities as may be requested by the project management (Project Manager, Coordinator and or Director).
Collaboration and support to other ADRA Thailand projects working in the camps as necessary to build positive relationships with the stakeholders and strengthening cohesion and synergies amongst ADRA projects within same area of operation.
Ensure effective communication and coordinating with the Project Manager, Field Officer and appropriate staff to ensure successful project implementation.
Oversee and work closely with the and Logistics and Procurement Officer to ensure that required materials for activities are delivered to the camp on time and according to plan;
Prepare and carry out assessments relevant to project activities on time and in collaboration with local partners such as KRCEE and OCEE;
Coordinate and liaise with OCEE, SCLOs (school community liaison officers), head teachers, teachers, and PTAs to implement project activities;
Represent ADRA Thailand to Thai Authorities, adjoining Thai communities, camp communities, NGOs/CBOs, donors and others as required;
Attend monthly or quarterly NGO, MOI, stakeholder meetings related to area of responsibility;
Build and maintain strong working relationships with education stakeholders, any camp-based staff, OCEE and KRCEE;
Attend, on occasion, head teacher meetings and PTA meetings in camps providing support as needed and fostering positive and fruitful relationships;
Liaise with Thai Authorities to secure permission and camp passes for ADRA Thailand staff, visitors and materials entering the camps.
Coordinate field visits by ADRA Thailand senior management staff, Thai Education Authorities, donors and others as required.
Escalate issues requiring immediate solution for smooth project implementation to the Project Manager.
Perform other tasks as required by the Project Manager.
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:
Educational Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor degree in education, international development or related field
Experience:
At least 5 year experience working with NGOs/CBOs and minimum of 2 years in management position equal to the responsibilities outline above
Language Skills:
Strong English verbal and written language skills
Strong Karen and/or Burmese verbal and written language skills
Strong Thai verbal skills
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work in a Christian context
Must be willing to travel and work in remote camps along the Thai – Myanmar border (estimated at 50% of time)
Willingness to implement policies and procedures with a professional and constructive attitude
Must have strong operational management skills and be team orientated
Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Ability to take initiative and work with minimum supervision
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong computer skills (Including Microsoft Office proficiency)
Understanding of diversity in working environment
Valid driving license is required
