Vacancy Announcement- Gender and Youth Coordinator

The Peace Corps program in Thailand places American Volunteers in two-year assignments in villages and towns across the country. Peace Corps is seeking qualified applicants for the contracted position of Gender and Youth Coordinator. The Gender and Youth Coordinator is responsible for contributing to programmatic design and adaptation and delivery of Volunteer training related to the promotion of positive gender norms, the empowerment of female and male youth, and the training and empowerment of Thai counterparts who work with youth. This is a full-time contracted position that requires work both within the Peace Corps office in Bangkok as well as periodic travel within Thailand.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides technical support to Volunteers and their communities in designing gender and youth empowerment project activities
Performs site visits to Volunteers engaging in gender and youth activities, and supports the Program Managers with their site identification, development, and monitoring process
Manages the Volunteer grants program, particularly as it relates to the gender and youth initiative
Develops and maintains strong and productive working relationships with the government, NGOs, and other local organizations to further gender-related activities
Works with other programming and training staff to adapt and deliver training to Volunteers and counterparts in participatory assessment, project design and management, gender and youth empowerment
Monitors program progress, summarizes available data, and prepares documentation for multiple stakeholders, including PC/Washington
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience
Fluency in written and spoken Thai and English with strong written English skills
Thai National; Valid Thai work and residency permit required
DESIRED
Understanding of youth development and gender issues in Thailand and professional experience in engaging with youth on many different issues that affect their life
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of professional counterparts including Thai local government officials and American Volunteers
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills in English
Degree in social science, preferably with an emphasis youth programming or gender
Experience in delivering training on gender and youth issues using non-formal education techniques
Project management experience, including budget oversight
