Background/IRC Summary:
The IRC has a rich history of assisting refugees to apply for U.S. resettlement, from its founding in 1933 to help vulnerable individuals escape Nazi-occupied Europe, to pioneering the Joint Voluntary Agency which assisted Indochinese refugees for 22 years, to operations in Croatia, Sierra Leone and Sudan. Over the years, IRC has processed some half million refugees worldwide for U.S. resettlement.
Based in Bangkok with four field offices in Thailand and Malaysia, the IRC Resettlement Support Center (IRC-RSC) assists persons throughout East Asia seeking permanent resettlement in the United States. Operating in fifteen countries, the RSC prepares refugee applications for the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program, provides information to resettlement agencies about arriving refugees and offers cultural orientation training to those refugees bound for the U.S
Job Overview/Summary:
The Case Processing Officer (CPO) is responsible for daily management of Case Processing Department workload as assigned. This position will prioritize and complete for both complex data entry into WRAPS system and daily workload of Post Update Team in a timely and accurate manner as well as updating and maintaining physical case files for USCIS-adjudicated refugee cases. This position is typically assigned tasks requiring superior knowledge and experience of staff supervision. This position reports to Case Processing Manager of Post Update Team.
Major Responsibilities:
- Prioritize and complete assigned tasks, primarily Post USCIS cases for refugees ready for updating case information and USCIS decision into WRAPS system.
- Complete update case information of Post USCIS cases in WRAPS system and physical file, particularly for complicated cases.
- Delegate assignments to staff in team.
- Implement quality control the case information and ensure accurate case information both in WRAPS and physical file before moving forward with further processing.
- Ensure workload completion in a timely manner, or otherwise keep supervisors advised of workload challenges.
- Able to work with external partner agencies in field location during DHS/CR and to ensure timely information sharing and follow-up.
- Maintain clear channel of communication to effectively reports supervisors and external partner as assigned.
- Maintenance of various reporting mechanisms such as OBDC database reports as required.
- Provides statistics on workload as requested.
- Assist in training of new Case Processing Assistant in team.
- Maintain current and accurate case information according to SOP, OGM and guideline.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education: University Degree
Work Experience: Minimum three year experience in an office environment or with refugee resettlement a plus.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manages time, and meets deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills, flexible, attention to details and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to take direction from supervisors and cooperate with teammates.
- Ability to travel to other provinces for periodic short-term assignments as needed and willingness to work in refugee camps along the Thai-Burma border.
- Previous experience working with refugees and in a multi-cultural environment a plus.
- Strong data entry experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, email and WRAPS.
- Good English communication skills, both written and oral.

Working Environment: This position is located at the RSC office in Bangkok and is primarily office based.
