The Translocal Resilience Project (TransRe) - Research Project on the effect of international migration on social resilience a case study between Thailand and Singapore
in short: The TransRe Project is looking for an engaged and interested research assistant who can help to organize and conduct interviews and focus group discussions in Singapore;
duration: 1 month (with the potential of prolongation)
payment: 19.000 THB / month

Objectives:
The TransRe project seeks to understand the relationships between migration and the capacity to adapt to climate change in rural Thailand. The project is based at the Department of Geography at University of Bonn, in Germany and is supported by the German Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). This call for research assistants is part of sub-project 4b of the TransRe project which focuses on international migration to Singapore and Germany.

Scope of responsibilities:
The research assistants will contribute to the necessary activities related to qualitative data collection, facilitate interviews and group discussion as assigned and play a role in data management after the data are collected such as transcription etc. S/he will closely work together with the investigator of the sub-project (4b) Simon Peth in Singapore.
Qualifications required:
Experience: Previous experience in working with people from different cultural and social backgrounds and first experiences with field work or qualitative research methods (semi-structured interview, focus group discussion, or participatory rural appraisal) is an advantage.
Languages: Excellent knowledge of English (in particular oral skills), Thai as native language, and knowledge about regional dialects (Isan dialect) is desirable.
Readiness: to work during the weekends (having days off in the week), because that is the moment when most of the interview partners in Singapore have time for interviews.
