Purpose and Scope of Assignment

- Undertake regular field missions to conduct Best Interest Determination (BID) interviews and Resettlement (RST) interviews (when required) of Rohingya cases in Immigration Detention Centers and Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) facilities.

- Provide counseling on the resettlement process to persons of concerns.

- Assist and support protection staff in preparing Best Interest Assessment (BIA) and BID reports for separated children, unaccompanied minors and other children-at-risk to determine their circumstances.

- Conduct visits and monitor the well-being of Un-Accompanied or Separated Children (UASC) and other children-at-risk.

- Initiate and follow-up of family tracing request to UNHCR offices in the region.

- Review filing arrangements for BIAs and BIDs, both digital and hard copies.

- Ensure data entry in a timely manner in UNHCR's data base, ProGres.

- Engage in any other child protection support activities as needed, including attending meetings and note-taking, casework, operational issues etc.

- Perform any other duties as required.

Qualification Requirements

- Completion of Secondary Education in Humanities or equivalent with advanced training/certification in a related field.

- Minimum four (4) years of relevant work experience.

- Fluency in English and working knowledge of another relevant UN language or local language

- Completion of PLP, RSD-Resettlement Learning Programme, Protection Induction is an asset

- Experience in Interviewing

- Knowledge of computer applications, Microsoft Office package (Word and Excel)

- Good writing and communication skills

- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and respect diversity

- Knowledge of UNHCR guidelines in relation to refugee children and Best Interest Determination is an asset

- Knowledge and/or previous experience of refugee context in Thailand is an asset
