Purpose and Scope of Assignment

- Undertake regular visits to various sites in order to assess the needs of persons of concern, with particular attention to vulnerable groups, and to report back to UNHCR Bangkok.

- Keep regular contacts with local authorities and with other humanitarian agencies (UN, NGOs, etc.), attend meetings and represent UNHCR in field-level coordination mechanisms.

- Assess the situation of persons of concern and help collect data relevant to UNHCR.

- Assist in the reception, screening, registration and provision of assistance to person of concern to UNHCR.

- Under the supervision of and with guidance from the Protection Officer, to provide general information, counselling and/or awareness-raising sessions to individuals/groups concerned.

- Monitor the implementation of field activities including delivery of humanitarian assistance.

- Respond to calls requiring the urgent intervention of UNHCR whenever group of rescued people are identified and regrouped by law enforcement authorities.

- Help organize the visits of the UNHCR staffs on mission to the province and assist visitors. Act as an interpreter when required

- Contribute to the preparation of status and progress reports by provinding update on main developments and information on achievements.

- Undertake other duties as required.

Qualification Requirements

- Completion of Secondary School.  A university degree in International law, Political Science, or related fields would be an asset.

- Training courses in protection related issues required.

- Minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience.

- Fluency in English and Thai.

- Knowledge of computer applications, Microsoft Office package (Word and Excel).

- Good writing and communication skills.

- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and respect diversity.

- Knowledge and/or previous experience of refugee context in Thailand is an asset
