Position: Towards Organic Asia (TOA) Coordinator (Full-time)
Supporting organization: School for Wellbeing Secretariat (a unit of Suan Nguen Mee Ma social enterprise)
Period: minimum 3 years, starting as soon as possible
Because our present TOA Coordinator moves to Chiang Mai, we look for a successor.
Towards Organic Asia (TOA) started in 2010. TOA works together with partners in the Mekong region and affiliates all over Asia to strengthen the organic and agro-ecology movements in Asia; by advancing sustainable and resilient approaches to food, agriculture and livelihoods. TOA aims to develop a common framework and vision (“organic food for all”) to promote organic agriculture; agro-ecology and mindful markets. The TOA network is currently consisting of 21 partner organizations from the Mekong region and Bhutan and a growing number of affiliates in Asia. Activities are facilitated by a secretariat in Bangkok, Thailand; with the Green Market Network, one of the partners in Thailand, also based at Suan Nguen Mee Ma social enterprise. TOA’s work focuses on 4 thematic areas including: Capacity building and Youth; Action-research and advocacy; Technical exchange; and Mindful Marketing / Consumer Education.
MAIN TASKS of the TOA Coordinator:
- Coordinating international partner organizations; communicating with partners and stakeholders.
- Strategizing short- / middle / and long-term programme plans and goals
- Initiating and leading multi-cultural teamwork and project development
- Managing and monitoring programme progress and budgeting
- Writing project proposals, handling project reports and communicate with donors
- Organize / facilitate / manage international events and meetings
WHO CAN APPLY?
We are looking for a highly motivated (young) skilled professional interested in exploring a future career in social activism and international development to contribute to positive change in society.
Strong commitment in social activism and highly interested in organic movement and agro-ecology issues; preferably with some experience in rural, community development, consumers movement, social entrepreneurship
Background in Development Studies, Agriculture and Environmental Science, Sociology or Economics, Political or Social Sciences
Fluency in both Thai and English communication (speaking and writing) is a must;
(Initial) experience in project management and project planning;
Experience in facilitating cross-cultural meetings and dialogue;
Good coordination and communication skills;
Goal-oriented attitude, open-minded and being able to manage your own working schedule;
Flexible, mobile and being able to work on demand (sometimes in weekends);
Well organized and being able to meet deadlines
