For Consultancy for Training Workshop on Curriculum Development
Civil Society Partnerships Project
1. Introduction & Background
USAID Civil Society Partnerships project of Center for Civil Society and Non-Profit Managment is seeking to advance professionalism and leadership of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Thailand as well as the Lower Mekong Sub-region countries namely Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam to solve increasing challenges faced by CSO and to ensure maximum impact and contribute to sustainable development. The key to achieve this is to improve CSO capacity in project management and organizational management through innovative solutions with quality curriculums of the subjects and easy access to the curriculum that fit with diverse contexts of respective countries. To design and develop the innovation solution in CSO capacity building, CSNM believes in collaborative work from experts of different culture and context to ensure curriculum delivered to CSO practitioners are resonate and contextualized. Therefore, CSNM bring together CSO leaders and experts in the region to work together on designing innovative curriculum for CSO leaders.
CSNM intends to conduct a 5 day workshop in Bangkok, Thailand for ‘Curriculum Development (Project Cycle) for Civil Society Organization’ for the Civil Society Partnership Project (CSPP). The workshop is planned to be held from 12-16, October, 2015. The participants from Cambodia, Vientiane and Thailand will be invited to attend this workshop. This TOR describes facilitator’s roles and objective of the workshop.
2. Objective:
The objective of the assignment is to design and facilitate a 5-day workshop for the participants from Cambodia, Laos and Thailand.
The objectives of the workshop include but not limited to:
• Design the workshop methodology and preparation for the workshop to develop a project cycle overview on project management.
• To enable curriculum development consultants to bring their skills to work together on the project cycle overview
• To consolidate and finalize the project cycle overview as a result team work from curriculum development consultants
• To prepare a plan to be tested the training with core CSOs partners of CSPP.
• To enable participants to work on workplan for the developing, testing curricula and make it usable e-Learning platform.
3. Methods:
The facilitator will be required to work with the CSPP team to successfully deliver various activities. The facilitator is expected to be able to energetically conduct sessions in English using multiple methods such as power point, practical exercises, analytical case studies on best practices, ready reference take away notes for participants, and interactive videos. It is expected that the facilitator engage CSPP staff for smoothly managing all administrative aspects of the workshop.
4. Detail Scope of Work
Before the workshop
1. Design and Plan for the over all of the Project Cycle curriculum development workshop with CSPP staff (12-16 October 2015)
2. Reviewing the existing CSNM Project Management curricular, material developed so far and use this information to present and exchange experience with CSNM consultants during the 5 days’ workshop
3. Involve in the workshop preparation meeting with CSNM-CSPP team at CSNM office in Khon Kaen
During the workshop
1. Facilitate the overall aspect of the Project Management / Project Cycle overview during the workshop
2. Identify / analyze the linkage keys content, issues regarding to the Project Cycle presentation form each CSNM consultant provided.
3. Formulate the common understanding among the consultants, on the effective Project Cycle overview curriculum learning plan for CSOs in the LMS.
4. Facilitate all consultant braining storming on each component of Project Cycle Overview: Content/Methodology/Section Design/Material
5. Develop the next step of curriculum developing action plan with all consultants
After the workshop
1. Submit the workshop report, which include some recommendations, material in order to finalize the Project Cycle overview curriculum
5. Outputs/deliverables
The Consultant will provide:
• An inception report which details the methodology/approaches and timelines associated with this consultancy and outlines a draft agenda for the training workshop. This report should be submitted within 1 week of signature of contract.
• The final agreed agenda for the training and the full complement of workshop materials. To be submitted a minimum of 2 weeks prior to convening the workshop.
• Actual facilitation of the 5 day workshop.
• Consolidate the result of the working group.
• The final report on the training including a thorough evaluation of the workshop. The analysis must include the recommendations as well. To be submitted within two (2) weeks of the completion of the workshop.
CSNM requires a non-exclusive right to reuse and redistribute materials and content, and output of the workshop.
6. Timeline
The workshop will be held on 12-16, October, 2015
7. Qualification of the /Facilitator or consultant
• Individual consultant must have experience and track record to conduct the curriculum development and project cycle related trainings.
• The consultant must have 3-5 years of relevant professional experience.
• A minimum of 5 years experiences in developing and facilitating training workshop, particularly training of consultants
• Training sessions must be conducted through participatory way also use case study analysis along with group works.
• Excellent analytical, research, writing and communication skills.
• Full computer literacy and fluency in English – both written and spoken – are essential.
8. Request for Proposal
CSNM is looking for a consultant/Facilitator/Trainer who will be able to deliver the information as identified in Section 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
