Do you want to be part of a team that triggers real change and empower people around the world?

Is being a part of an international non-profit organisation standing for human right, women empowerment, justice, and freedom of media globally, aspires you?

Join our Thomson Reuters Foundation, an international charitable foundation under Thomson Reuters to fulfil your aspiration.

Thomson Reuters Foundation:

The Thomson Reuters Foundation is an international charitable foundation under Thomson Reuters. We run programmes that trigger real change and empower people around the world, including free legal assistance, journalism and media training, coverage of the world’s under-reported stories, women empowerment and fighting against modern-day slavery.

We believe that NGOs and social enterprises should be able to focus on their mission instead of spending their resources on legal fees. That’s why we created TrustLaw, our global pro bono legal programme. Through TrustLaw, we connect high-impact organisations with the best law firms in the world willing to provide free legal assistance. We are committed to spreading the practice of pro bono worldwide. Our network has grown to 2,000 members in over 170 countries, including more than 400 law firms. Since 2010, we’ve generated the equivalent of $54 million in pro bono support and made over 1,250 connections.

We have a growing presence in Southeast Asia already but recognizing a huge potential for expansion of our services and having a plan to run a number of high profile programmes and events in the region, we believe adding a Legal Programme Manager to our team will be key to achieving our goals.

Responsibilities:

Based in Bangkok, you will be responsible for both supporting our service across Asia and expanding our TrustLaw programme across South East Asia.

Specific responsibilities will include:

- Strategically handling pro bono requests from our community of NGOs and social entrepreneurs, from the scoping of the pro bono projects, connecting the client with lawyers and follow up with the parties involved

- Management of multiple cross-border research and policy advisory programmes that address the most critical needs facing our NGO and social enterprise members and contributing towards achieving impact through a high quality end product.

- Mapping out and implementing strategies to expand the TrustLaw membership, making sure that we serve both the best NGOs and social enterprises, as well as the strongest law firms and corporate in-house legal teams

- Relationship management of key TrustLaw members and facilitating their engagement with the service, through hosting events and managing regular communications, marketing and PR.

- Representing TrustLaw and the Thomson Reuters Foundation by speaking publicly on our work at panels, conferences, or other speaking engagements.

- Support the team on thought leadership projects including the TrustLaw Index of Pro Bono and TrustLaw training courses.

Must have qualifications:

- At least 5 years working experience (ideally with at least two of those years as corporate counsel or in private practice).

- Having experience working with the charitable, philanthropic or social enterprise sector, with a strong understanding and interest in the pro bono sector.

- Good understanding of the legal industry internationally and with extensive experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders, from senior corporate executives and partners of top law firms to social entrepreneurs, NGOs and any other beneficiaries of our services.

- Strong English communication skills

Nice to have qualifications

- Additional languages, particularly Mandarin, is a plus.

- Experience using Salesforce is a plus.

Remarks:

- The role will be based in Bangkok, Thailand and will be hired on a one-year contract with the potential to extend.

- This role will include a significant amount of travel across the region and occasionally to London.
