Position Title: Capacity Development Officer – Mekong Partnership for the Environment

Location: Bangkok, Thailand
Position Summary: The Capacity Development Officer (CDO) will work collaboratively with the Mekong Partnership for the Environment (MPE) program team, as well as country office staff, to ensure smooth and efficient planning, implementation, and management of the program’s capacity building and training activities. Key duties include coordination of capacity building activities for civil society in the five lower Mekong countries and supporting the administrative needs of the regional civil society training program. The CDO position is for a Thai national and will be based in Bangkok, but may be asked to travel to country offices throughout the Mekong region.
The Capacity Development Officer reports to MPE’s Civil Society Capacity Development Advisor.
Specific Duties:
Assisting in the planning and implementation of trainings and workshops in support of the regional civil society capacity building plan.
Supporting coordination of and information management for MPE’s national non-governmental and civil society partners
Support content development for Mekong Citizen website that highlights MPE civil society partner achievements and activities
Maintaining strong working relationships and coordinating with partner organizations and program stakeholders
Reporting on program activities to immediate supervisor and advising on issues, as needed
Traveling to regional country offices to provide training and capacity development support to civil society partners, as needed
Performing other related tasks as needed and assigned
Minimum Qualifications
BA and at least 5 years of relevant experience (or equivalent)
Demonstrated experience in at least one of following areas: organizational capacity development, civil society strengthening, and/or training/curriculum development
Work experience with civil society in Thailand required, and in the Mekong region preferred
Proficiency speaking, writing, and reading skills in English
Strong interpersonal skills and team player
Experience working on regional project preferred
Competence using common desktop applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Ability to travel regularly and at short-notice
