UNHCR is the UN Refugee Agency and takes the lead in providing international protection for 51 million refugees and displaced people worldwide.
Private Sector Fund Raising (PSFR) is a fast growing global division with offices in 14 countries across the world. By end of 2014, PSFR will recruit over 250,000 new individual private donors and our ambition is to quickly grow in size, scale and global reach.
In Thailand, PSFR has been achieving outstanding results since its establishment in May 2008. Through the outsourced face to face fundraising programme, PSFR generates the largest portion of funds that go directly to support refugees in Thailand. PSFR is diversifying fundraising channels and requires support in promoting the UNHCR brand and communicating engaging content about refugee issues to build a platform of awareness among UNHCR Thailand donor and prospect audiences in order to maximise fundraising results. This includes developing strong donor retention plans through compelling communications, interaction and engagement in order to ensure their long term commitment for the refugees.
UNHCR is now looking for a highly motivated and results driven fundraising and communications expert, with a background in either fundraising or brand communications, journalism or marketing, to manage donor communications and public relations to support PSFR.
Purpose and Scope of Assignment:
Donor Retention
•Support the development and implementation of donor retention communications materials and activities for existing donors and for emergency appeals
•Write content and supervise the design and production of the donor care materials
•Supervise the call centre activities including; upgrading, reactivation and strategic testing of all techniques
•Monitor and analyse key performance indicators for donor retention to improve life time value of donors. Analyze reports and propose recommendations to improve the programme performance
•Provide the necessary assistance to help ensure key performance indicators (including both short term and long term retention rate) are achieved for the retention programmes and ensure the provision of quality and timely reporting of results to the PSFR Team
•Monitor and report on progress against the work plan, expenditure, budget and targets.
•Provide support in organizing day to day briefing, training and management of contractors to develop and implement donor retention plans.
•Closely cooperate with the acquisition programme units and other departments in UNHCR Thailand to enhance the donor quality and retention.
Communications
• Provide assistance in the development of a communications strategy for UNHCR Thailand to support the fundraising activities
•Act as UNHCR Thailand brand champion to increase UNHCR visibility in the media and in the field
•Organize UNHCR’s public awareness campaign in Thailand;
-act as a focal point for the coordination of brand awareness campaign and World Refugee Day activities in Thailand;
-provide support to generate local media visiblity for the fundraising campaigns in Thailand
-assist in planning and organising advertisements, exhibitions, conferences, meetings, social events and other activities to promote a better understanding of UNHCR’s activities and accomplishments.
•Initiate partnerships with key media outlets to fundraise for UNHCR Thailand
•Draft briefing notes, talking points, minutes, press releases, reports including situation reports and other papers as needed
•Accompany visits of foreign delegations, donor missions and the media on field trips to refugee sites, giving appropriate briefings, interpreting support and commentaries;
•Establish contacts with local organisations and media to promote general interest and understanding of refugee issues including fundraising partnership
•Ensure the office is kept informed of local developments and keep track of evolving issues concerning displaced persons and refugees to be able to suggest stories and topics for the media to cover;
•Closely cooperate with the Regional Communications Officer and Global Fundraising Communications Deparment to ensure the fundraising communication activities in Thailand are in line with global and regional communications strategy
•Provide other support to the PSFR team as required
Qualification and Experiences
Applicants must be Thai national only.
Education:
•Completed High School certificate and/or University level education in communication, marketing or other related fields
Work Experiences:
•Minimum three year’s experience in private sector fundraising, communication, marketing or journalism with at least one year experience in working with an international NGO or the UN preferable
•Well-connected network of media in Thailand
•Interpersonal skill and excellent in building relationship
•Ability to analyze performance report will be an advantage
•Experience in providing training and motivation is preferred

•Excellent communication and writing skills
•Strong interpersonal skills
•Proven ability to deal with multiple tasks in a courteous and service oriented manner in a demanding working condition
•Good analytical skills, including the use of Excel, and an ability to interpret complex marketing data
•Mature, polite and a team player is essential.
•Demonstrated knowledge the NGO sector and private sector fundraising
•Ability to work and deliver under tight deadlines
•Excellent knowledge of English / written, oral, comprehension
•Good presentation skills
•Ability to interface effectively and professionally with key UNHCR staff
Languages: Fluency in Thai and English (both written and spoken)
