Marketing and Communications Manager
Location: Bangkok Office
note: This is a local position opened to Thai nationals
The Marketing and Communications Manager provides strategic and technical leadership for Plan International’s communications work in Thailand. The successful candidate will ensure that communications activities support achievement of Plan International’s Country Strategic Plan goals and delivery of global, regional and country-level communications objectives; help to raise children’s voices on issues that affect them; document and promote our programs, progress and milestones; mobilize resources and inform key stakeholders and the public about our work.
The Marketing and Communications Manager will lead the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of strategic and innovative approaches to marketing communication that raises the voices of children, families and communities affected by poverty, disasters and social exclusion. In doing so, they will contribute to the development and maintenance of an engaging, proactive and credible public presence for Plan International Thailand, supporting and driving our work to promote the rights and interests of Thailand’s most vulnerable and marginalized children.
The Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for ensuring that:
Plan International Thailand is visible, engaging, respected and active in the public domain, including the media, online channels, and internally in Plan International;
Our work and key messages are shared as widely as possible, both within Plan International and externally through effective and strategic Public Relations;
Children and youth are supported to raise their voices on issues that affect them;
We are prepared to respond to emergencies;
All communications work support achievement of Plan International's strategic global vision.
This role will also work to strengthen Plan International’s capacity to be prepared for, and respond to, future emergencies in accordance with accepted principles, practices and standards.
Responsibilities:
PR, Media relations and outreach to Thai-language media, English language media in Thailand, and international media. Candidate should have good connections with the media and good media writing skills.
Maintaining and updating Plan International Thailand’s website.
Developing high quality video that speak to our marquee campaigns, programme and community work.
Leading delegations from the media and/or Communications teams from Plan International National Offices to field sites across Thailand.
Implementation and enforcement of Plan International’s new brand, including serving as a resource to country offices and coordination with Plan IH.
Event management, including of Plan International’s annual International Day of the Girl events.
Internal communications that keeps Plan International Thailand and regional and international teams up to date on pivotal events happening with programmes, advocacy campaigns, and communities we work in.
Online and digital media: Develop, implement and monitor a strategic online, digital, social media communications plan that engages audiences, improves the quality of outputs from Plan International Thailand, and drives and meets digital content needs from our National/Fundraising offices.
Managing all social media accounts for Plan International Thailand and exploring new channels and opportunities, ensuring that appropriate and engaging content (text, images, videos, infographics etc.) is being prepared and shared on a regular basis.
Providing high quality photography, video, and stories and case studies from programme communities, in particular children, for use by the Plan International federation.
Developing and overseeing execution of the communications budget.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, journalism or a related discipline
5 years of demonstrated work experience in marketing communication, PR and advocacy and in the development and implementation of campaign activities
At least 3 years of work experience at the management level
Strong creativity, strategic, analytical, and organizational skills
Fluent in Thai and excellent written and spoken English
Background/education in media relations and/or work experience in journalism
Hands-on experience in print production, audio/video production, website development and social media management
Excellent computer skills, especially in publication and presentation software
Experience in an international cross-cultural environment preferred.
