Background:

World Vision Foundation of Thailand (WVFT) is a non-profit, Christian organization, dedicated to transformational development of children, families and communities.  It was founded in 1974, and is currently supporting children, families and community development in 46 provinces in Thailand.

Purpose of Position:

Purpose of this position is to produce good quality written material, such as news articles, features stories and others, child-focused photos and videos and ad hoc assignments as requested, in order to contribute to the Communications Division’s purpose of creating top-of-mind awareness of our organization among external audiences, including existing and potential sponsors and donors, general public, policy makers, printed and electronic media, ADP communities, and other stakeholders; positioning the organization within the World Vision international partnership; promoting goodwill for the organization – both internally and externally improve brand awareness among staff to achieve, among others, shared accountability for the organizational identity supporting WVFT’s fundraising efforts.

The resource gathering is mainly done through interviewing, writing and taking photos and video, with accompanying project management of each assignment. Since interviewing, writing and photography go hand in hand with individual style, team members are encouraged to display individual creative approach to the tasks at hand, in cooperation with the Manager or Team leader. The position requires a high level of self-management, creativeness, enthusiasm and a willingness to go the extra mile beyond the call of duty.

Role Dimension:          

 Do field visits to interview, take photos, resource gathering of activities and individuals for writing news, features, etc. to be used in WVFT publications and internet + social media platforms as well as other WV and media channels.

Fulfill special assignments from Partnership offices and others assigned by team leader.

Cooperate with assignment requests from other WVFT divisions to help accomplish stated goals, such as promotion and fundraising initiatives.

Support ADPs with a number of communications-related tasks such as project profiles and APR Inserts

Job Qualification:   

 Bachelor’s Degree or similar qualification in Communications or other related field.

Proficient in doing interviews, resource gathering, writing news, stories, features, taking photos and using photography and video graphic equipment.

Enthusiasm to learn new communications skills and a passion for humanitarian issues.

Contact and coordinate with people, work as a team, travel to provinces, meet new people with different language and culture.

Comprehensive language skills: proficiency in speaking, reading and writing Thai; sufficient knowledge in speaking, reading and writing English.

At least two years proven experience in writing news, features, stories, etc.

At least one year experience in taking photos for news, stories, features, portraits of people.

Travel experiences to provinces and slum communities.
