PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Environment and Sustainability Programs Manager provides strategic, technical, and managerial leadership for WVFT’s environmental sustainability, climate change adaptation, and livelihoods programming under the Program Acquisition and Management (PAM) Directorate.

The role leads the Environment and Sustainability Integrated Program Framework (IPF), driving program design, acquisition, and technical quality assurance to address Thailand’s growing environmental and climate challenges and strengthen community resilience.

The position oversees environmental programming, climate and disaster risk reduction, sustainable livelihoods, and green innovation initiatives, ensuring they align with WVFT’s FY26–30 strategy, national climate policies, and global sustainability frameworks.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Program Design and Integration 10%

·        Lead design of environment, climate, and livelihoods programs aligned with WVFT’s strategic objectives, focusing on environmental sustainability, DRR, and community resilience. Integrate cross-cutting priorities (child protection, gender, disability inclusion, and faith & development) into all program designs.

 Resource Acquisition and Donor Engagement 20%

·        Lead resource acquisition for the Environment & Sustainability IPF. Identify funding from institutional donors, corporates, and green financing partners (e.g., CSR, ESG, and climate funds). Collaborate with the PAM Director and Resource Development (RD) specialist/advisor to prepare competitive proposals.

 Technical Leadership and Program Quality 25%

·        Provide strategic technical leadership and capacity-building support for environment, DRR, and livelihoods initiatives. Work through the Technical Design (TD) Manager in the Program Quality & Implementation (PQI) Directorate to deliver technical standards, guidance, and tools to field teams. Collaborate with the PQI Coordinator (New Project Lead) to ensure new projects, pilots, and grants are operationalized effectively and align with national standards and community needs. Use MEAL and climate data for adaptive management and learning.

 Partnerships, Advocacy, and Innovation 15%

·        Strengthen strategic partnerships with government (ONEP, DDPM, DMCR), academia, private sector, and NGOs on environmental sustainability, DRR, and livelihoods. Promote innovation in green technology, community-based adaptation, and youth environmental leadership. Translate program evidence into national and local advocacy efforts.

 People Management and Team Development 15%

·        Lead a cross-functional team of technical specialists, acquisition staff, and MEAL officers under the Environment IPF. Promote collaboration across IPFs (Education, CP, Health) to integrate environmental resilience and sustainability principles. Ensure team development, coaching, and accountability.

Risk Management, Compliance, and Environmental Stewardship 10%

·        Ensure compliance with WVFT and donor environmental standards, safeguarding policies, and PDPA. Promote green operations and carbon reduction across WVFT programs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

·        Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.

·        Certification or training in DRR, Climate Adaptation, or Project Management preferred.

·        Minimum 8–10 years in environment, climate adaptation, or livelihoods programming, including at least 3 years in management or leadership role.

·        Proven experience in program design, resource acquisition, technical oversight, and policy advocacy in environment or DRR.

·        Demonstrated understanding of Thai national climate and DRR frameworks and collaboration with government agencies (e.g., ONEP, DDPM)

·        Experience managing donor-funded environment or climate projects (e.g., UN, EU, GCF, corporate CSR).

·        Strong knowledge of climate change adaptation, DRR, sustainable livelihoods, and ecosystem restoration (FMNR, CCA).

·        Understanding of environmental policy and ESG frameworks for private sector collaboration.

·        Ability to design and apply environmental indicators within MEAL systems.

·        Excellent proposal writing, data analysis, and partnership-building skills.

·        Fluency in Thai and English (written and spoken).

·        Ability to travel frequently within program areas and occasionally nationally.

·        Based in Bangkok with regular domestic travel (up to 40%) to field sites.

·        Hybrid work model with remote coordination and field travel.

·        Must demonstrate commitment to WV’s Christian ethos, safeguarding, and ethical standards.
