International Student Volunteers (ISV) operates educational volunteer and travel programs for young adults in numerous countries (www.isvolunteers.org). The ISV program has been in operation since 2002, and over 30,000 young adults from around the world have participated. ISV’s mission is “To support sustainable development initiatives around the world through life-changing student volunteer and responsible adventure travel programs designed to positively change our world and to educate, inspire and result in more active global citizens.” The program combines two weeks of volunteer work in the area of conservation or community development, with a two-week outdoor adventure tour in the same host country. ISV has surpassed two million hours of volunteer service around the world, providing humanitarian aid, environmental outcomes and assisting local organizations and communities with sustainable development initiatives. In accordance with ISV’s focus on experiential education, ISV is affiliated with certain universities that offer academic credit to some students for their participation in the two week volunteer project.
The ISV Thailand program has been in operation since 2006. The Thailand volunteer program operates by forming partnerships with host organizations (government and non-government) and local communities to run the volunteer experience in accordance with ISV’s standards.

Each volunteer team consists of approximately 10-14 university student volunteers from North America and Europe aged 18-25. ISV Project Leaders work closely with a partner (host organization) to achieve the project’s goals, and to facilitate the educational components of the ISV program. Project Leaders will ensure that the volunteer experience is safe, efficient and supportive to the participants needs.
