We are looking for a
Junior Detention Field Assistant, based in Bangkok
Supports the ICRC Protection Department, Bangkok, by implementing the Red Cross and the Red Crescent Restoring of Family Links (RFL) Services, related to its activities conducted in detention facilities.
Under the supervision of the detention team leader, the detention officer participates in detention visits and support the team with preparatory steps and follow ups. He/she independently handles contacts with National Red Cross Societies around the world for the follow up of Restoring Family Links activities in detention. S/he is actively involved in the detention activities as defined by the strategy of the delegation.
Your main responsibilities
• Participates in detention visits and supports the visiting team with preparatory steps and follow ups;
• Identifies detainees in need of RFL services and ensures that the implementation of such services are done in accordance with existing procedures;
• Handles contacts with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies world-wide in relation to RFL services;
• Contributes to written reporting in both Thai and English;
• Ensures the overall processes of field visits under his/her responsibilities that they run smoothly and efficiently
• Maintains contacts with prison authorities and welfare officers. Develops a network of relevant interlocutors at prison and DoC level in close coordination with respectively her/his direct superior and the Deputy Protection Coordinator;
• Provides support in field and office activities: data collection, translation of correspondence or any other requested document, minutes of meetings and reports (Thai and English);
• Ensures the overall processes of field visits under his/her responsibilities that they run smoothly and efficiently
• Conducts all attributed tasks pro-actively and in an independent manner, with minimal supervision from the team leader.
Your education and experience
• Previous work experience in relevant field 0-3 years maximum for this junior positon
• Able to communicate well in written and spoken English
• Good analytical skills
• Good communication skills, dynamic
• Capable of working independently
• A good team player

• Content with both office paperwork and field support activities as required
• Flexible and able to travel frequently, including during weekend as required by the position
