INTERNSHIP
Founded in 1922 by 15 human rights groups, FIDH now unites 178 national organizations from 117 countries to collaborate on strategies and activities to promote universal human rights standards. FIDH acts with its member and partner organizations to monitor, document, and alert the international community on human rights violations focusing on six priority areas: protecting and supporting human rights defenders; promoting women’s rights; promoting migrants’ rights; building and utilizing effective justice systems to bring perpetrators to justice; strengthening respect for human rights in the context of globalization; and supporting victims of serious violations in times of conflict or transition.
FIDH is looking for an intern who will be involved in the implementation of the organization’s activities in Thailand. The internship will be based in Bangkok. The intern will be under the supervision of the Director of Asia Desk - Southeast Asia.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to gain valuable hands-on experience in the human rights field and develop their research and advocacy skills.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and dynamic individual with a passion for human rights and a commitment to promoting the values of FIDH.
He/she is a Thai mother tongue, with good command of written and spoken English, good computers skills, and the ability to gather, analyze, and present information in a timely and well-organized manner.
During the internship the successful candidate will be involved in the following activities:
Monitor Thai language media, including social media.
Produce short summaries of relevant information.
Conduct basic research on human rights related issues.
Translate relevant document from Thai to English language and vice-versa.
Attend meetings and conferences and document proceedings.
Provide general administrative and logistic support.
INTERNSHIP CONDITIONS
Duration: Six months (renewable).
Start date: Wednesday, June 15, 2016.
Allowance: 10,000 THB per month.
Hours: 24 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
Leave: Three days, in addition to all Thai public holidays.
Transportation: Reimbursement of public transport expenses to attend meetings and conferences.
