MAP Foundation has a vacancy for a Field Officer (FO) in its

Community Health and Empowerment Program

MAP Foundation is a registered Thai NGO which has been working with migrant workers from Burma for the last twenty years. Together with migrant communities, MAP works on issues of labour rights, access to education, the right to health, and women’s rights.

We are currently looking for a field officer based in Chiang Mai for the STAR (Stop TB& Aids through RTTR) project, which is supported by the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. This project is part of MAP’s Community Health and Empowerment Program, which aims to improve migrants’ access to health promotion, including prevention and care, through community mobilization, education, advocacy and referrals including HIV and TB.

The Field Officer is responsible for:

• Organizing regular outreach activities to migrant workers with activities to increase HIV and TB awareness and prevention.

• Build the capacity of migrant community volunteers to be able to effectively bring about behavior change
• Oversee the implementation of the activities in the communities to ensure they are effective and bring about desired change
• Conduct activities in Drop in center and Health Testing Center on HIV prevention and Tuberculosis
• Assist with translation in pre and post test counseling for HIV, STIs and TB to migrants on request
• Supervise home visits to PHIV and TB patients in the community (as necessary), and document the visits
• Distribute health awareness materials , condoms and masks
• Refer patients to health centers and hospitals and document the referrals
• Provide monthly budgets and monthly activity reports to coordinator
• Assist coordinator in clearing expenses, reporting and  collecting documentation
• Participate in network meetings and act as a representative of migrant workers’ issues and share migrants’ situation regarding HIV/AIDS and TB where necessary.

Base salary starts at 9,000 Baht per month.  Previous experience will be considered in salary scale.

Position requirements:

We are looking for someone who:
1.  Has at least 1-2 years’ experience of working on Reproductive health, HIV/AIDS and TB with migrant communities
2. Is fluent in Burmese or Shan languages (Spoken and written)
3. Is fluent in Thai language (Spoken)
