MAP Foundation has a vacancy for a Program Coordinator in its

Community Health and Empowerment (CHE) Program

MAP Foundation is a registered Thai NGO which has been working with migrant workers from Burma for the last twenty years. Together with migrant communities, MAP works on issues of labour rights, access to education, the right to health, and women’s rights.

MAP Foundation’s Community Health and Empowerment (CHE) program needs a new program coordinator. The position is based in Chiang Mai. MAP’s Community Health and Empowerment Program aims to improve migrants’ access to health promotion, including prevention and care, through community mobilization, education, advocacy and referrals including HIV and TB.

 

The position mainly oversees the STAR (Stop TB& Aids through RTTR) project, which is supported by the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. MAP Foundation is a Sub-recipient under the migrant component of the STAR Project, which is overseen by Raks Thai Foundation as the Principal Recipient. The Program Coordinator is the program manager of the STAR Project, which is planned to end December 2017.

 

The coordinator is a senior member of MAP Foundation. The Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the functioning of all projects under the Community Health and Empowerment (CHE) Program, which has a team of around 10 staff and volunteers, and helps with management of the organization by sitting on the Coordinating Committee. The CHE Coordinator reports directly to the Director.

Base salary starts at 15,500, but previous experience will be considered in negotiating salary scale.

Preferred Experience

MAP is looking for an individual with:

  • Previous management level experience
  • Experience in the field of HIV, and, if possible, Tuberculosis is an advantage
  • Experience in the field of migration
  • Thai and / or Burmese language and basic English is required

 

Expected Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Oversees development of team’s workplans and budgets and submits them to donors as necessary.
  • Ensures that workplans are implemented in a way that meets the beneficiaries’ needs while meeting project indicators and targets.
  • Oversees activity reports by team members, collates the reports and ensures that all reports are submitted to the donor in a timely manner.
  • Oversees the budgeting for the program and ensures that the budget is spent in an appropriate manner with full transparency.
  • Oversees clearing of all expenses.
  • Organizes regular meetings with the project teams to monitor implementation and provide guidance.
  • Supervises hiring of staff and volunteers as necessary.

 

Organizational Management

  • Attend and participate in regular Coordinating Committee meetings as part of the organization’s management team.
  • Discuss and make decisions which affect the functioning of the organization as a member of the Coordinating Committee.
  • Review financial reports
  • Contribute to MAP annual report
  • Assist in organizing MAP staff retreats and meetings.

 

 

Networking and Advocacy

  • Represent MAP and migrants’ issues regarding HIV and health in relevant forums and networks.
  • Develop / maintain linkages with relevant government agencies and civil society networks / organizations to further the work of the Community Health and Empowerment Program
  • Coordinate with local and national campaigns on related issues.
