Background/IRC Summary:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future, and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, and Mae Hong Son provinces, as well as in Southeast Myanmar.
Job Overview/Summary:
As a member of the IRC Thailand Programs Unit and under the overall guidance of the Project Coordinator, the Project Assistant will primarily provide support to IRC Thailand’s Project for Local Empowerment (PLE) in donor progress reporting, program information and communications, and grants administration, while working closely with the Programs Unit team and program staff across all field sites. PLE is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and works to support a network of over 30 border-based community-based organizations to provide humanitarian assistance to conflict-affected people living in four states and two regions in Southeast Myanmar, as well as for migrants and refugees living in four provinces and nine camps in Thailand.

Education: Bachelor’s degree required, coupled with a strong interest in refugee/migrant and related issues

Language Skills: Demonstrated fluency or near-fluency in English and Thai required
Working Environment: The position is a NATIONAL post and will be based in the IRC office in Bangkok, with travel to the Thailand-Myanmar border area as required.
