Plan International Thailand Job Re-Advertisement – Micro-enterprise Officer

Position: Micro-enterprise Officer – Plan Asia’s Stopping Exploitation through Accessible Services (SEAS of Change) Project
Assignment duration: Fixed contract (15 months) with likely extension
Duty station: Rayong
JOB BACKGROUND: Plan Asia’s SEAS of Change Project is a multinational initiative between Plan Cambodia, Thailand, Sweden, Finland and Plan Asia Regional Office to address the issues related to exploitation, abuses, violations, hazardous work and limited access to social services and education faced by migrant workers and their children. The project aims at contributing to a fishing industry that is free from hazardous exploitative child labor and offer decent work opportunities for all, particularly migrant populations. The project seeks to look at the critical entry points along the fishing supply chain and develop a multi-pronged approach comprised of four strategic principles, including education participation, livelihood promotion, access to social services and corporate engagement, to contribute to fortifying it against the issues. Plan will also work with both producer communities in Thailand and consumer societies in Sweden and Finland, along with intermediary buyers and labor brokers in order to achieve the project’s goal.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Micro-enterprise Officer will work closely with the micro-enterprise specialist of SEAS of Change Project in the implementation of the project’s livelihood intervention in targeted Cambodian migrant communities in Rayong province in order to achieve the expected outcomes set in the project’s Objective 2 (Life Skills and Livelihood Intervention). The micro-enterprise intervention in Rayong province will concentrate on enhancing young migrant workers’ micro-enterprise start-up and operation skills and will spend most of his or her time providing training and mentoring to young migrant workers in their communities on micro-enterprise start-up and operation.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor degree in business administration, economics, social development or other related fields, Three years experience in implementation of microenterprise projects; Facilitation skills; Program management skill; Proficiency in English; Understanding of child rights and child-centered community development, migrant issues, and decent work opportunities.
