I. Background on ACTED:
ACTED is a non-governmental organization with headquarters in Paris, founded in 1993. Independent, private and not-for-profit, ACTED respects a strict political and religious impartiality and operates according to principles of non-discrimination and transparency.
ACTED’s vocation is to support vulnerable populations affected by wars, natural disasters and/or economic and social crises, and to accompany them in building a better future. The programs implemented by ACTED are in 35 countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean seek to cover the multiple aspects of humanitarian and development crises through a multidisciplinary approach which is both global and local, and adapted to each context.
II. Background of program:
ACTED is working in partnership with ADRA Thailand for the implementation of the EU-funded project “Vocational Training to Prepare Refugees for Return, phase 2”.
ACTED and ADRA are providing advanced Vocational Training opportunities in the 9 temporary shelters along the Thai-Myanmar border to improve the opportunities of securing a dignified and stable employment for the displaced people of Myanmar origin once they will leave the temporary shelters.
As the situation in Myanmar improves and the displaced people consider returning to their home country, ACTED and ADRA are currently working to consolidate their activities related to the livelihoods sector in the temporary shelters by constructing the conditions for an orderly and effective handover of their activities to Camp Based Organizations and local stakeholders.
To this end, ACTED and ADRA are committed to support the CBOs involved in Livelihoods activities through a capacity building programme.
ACTED is currently looking for qualified staff to join the team as Organizational Development Trainer in Mae Hong Son.
III. Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Organizational Development Trainer will be responsible of the following tasks:
- Conduct a capacity assessment following the Grassroots Organizations Capacity Assessment (GOCA) approach developed by ACTED.
- Based on the GOCA assessment, design a capacity building programme encompassing the following subjects:
- Deliver the capacity building programme to the targeted CBOs.
- Mentor the targeted CBOs in the operationalization of the trainings received.
- Monitor and report on the progress of the CBOs.
- Coordinate with other actors to ensure complementarity of trainings and avoid duplication.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have the following qualifications:
- A degree in Social Sciences or other relevant subject.
- At least 2 years of experience in project management
- At least 2 years of experience in training of adults, preferably in capacity building of Civil Society Organizations.
- A sound understanding of the challenges faced by CSOs and of the dynamics of Project Cycle Management.
- Good computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Internet and email).
- Fluent spoken and written English and Burmese essential, Karen and/or Karenni would be an asset.
- Good communication skills with a strong ability to work with people of all backgrounds and a good team player
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
- Strong ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks
- Experience in working in the temporary shelters along the Thai-Myanmar border would be an asset.
