Duties and Responsibilities

1. Under the direct supervision of the Associate RSD Officer, and overall supervision of the RSD Officer, the Intern assists in the RSD case processing as appropriate and in accordance with UNHCR RSD Procedural Standards and ROTHA Standard Operating Procedures on RSD
2. Provides information and counseling to asylum seekers
3. Assists in RSD issues related to individual cases or specific groups of refugees by compiling, researching and updating Country of Origin information on a regular basis for the major caseloads and on request from Eligibility Staff
4. Conduct relevant legal research and share with the RSD Team new developments related to refugee law
5. Compile and provide a summary of caselaw relevant to the specific caseload in Thailand.
6. To perform other tasks as needed and assigned.

Qualification Required:

Education and Skills: University degree in Law (LLB, LLM), Political Science, or any related field. Sound knowledge of refugee law, international human rights and humanitarian laws are desirable.

Experience: Previous experience in legal work and experience in working with people from different cultural and social backgrounds is an advantage.

Languages: Excellent knowledge of English (drafting and oral skills). Knowledge of other UN language desirable.
