Mae Sot, Tak Province, Thailand

Travel Requirements

April - December 2017 with possibility of extension.

Salary

20,000 – 30,000 THB depends on experience.

Relationships

Reports to

Medical Manager

Supervises

Direct: None

Indirect: Camp Nurse and Psychosocial staffs and Preventive health workers

Others: None.

Coordinates with

Internal: Operations and Program

External: International Rescue Committee (IRC) Health Team, Partner organizations, Thai government units, other NGO staff and CBAs in camps

Responsibilities

Summary

Suwannimit Foundation (SNF) is a Thailand registered foundation dedicated to strengthening the operational capacity, programming impact and sustainability of community-based organizations that service underprivileged people on the Thailand-Burma border.

Nurse position will work closely with IRC health team to managing clinical services in camp clinics in refugee camps in Tak province. The main responsibilities are to provide daily technical support to camp Nurses and the same time have to indirect supervise Psychosocial staffs and Preventive health workers as well.  This position will take the lead role as clinical nurse after IRC health team is handed over to SNF by the end of 2017.

 

Job Specific

Role 1: Nursing care services in the camps (50%)

1.    Work closely with focal persons to understand of the work in Outpatient Department (OPD), Inpatient Department (IPD)

2.    Integrate nursing health care knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective care

3.    Research and design activities/trainings which can improve the services

4.    Regularly provide technical assistance to camp staffs

 

Role 2: Psychosocial activities (30%)

1.    Work closely with focal persons to understand of the work in Psychosocial activities

2.    Psychosocial support and case management for clients who have experienced trauma, torture, sexual and gender-based violence, depression or mental illness

3.    Research and design activities/trainings which can improve the services

 

Role 3: Coordination and partnership (10%)

1.       Closely coordinate with the Camp Psychosocial staff

 

Role 4: Reporting (10%)

1.       Submit regular reports as agreed with Medical Manager

2.       File and manage supporting documents as indicated in the monitoring framework

3.       Provide inputs for program development and proposals and sharing of information within SNF regarding meetings, project activities, camp and other coordination issues, or any other relevant information

General

·      Other ad-hoc duties as needed


Position Requirements

Education

·      Bachelor degree in Nursing Science

·      Nursing certification (RN)

·      Certificate or Diploma in Psychology is an advantage

Work Experience

·      At least 2 years’ experience of Nurse and case management experience

·      Experience in mental health and/or psychosocial activities is an advantage

Skills/Knowledge/Aptitude

·      Strong organizational skills, good at multi-tasking, flexible. Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing

·      Basic computer literacy such as knowledge in the use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Language(s)

·      Fluency in Thai or Burmese with English proficiency

·      Karen and/or Burmese language skills is an advantage

Motivation

·      Special interest in improving the Nurse and Psychosocial services in the camps

·      Self-motivated, and a self –starter but able to work as part of a team

·      Demonstrated resourcefulness

·      Effective time management

·      Knows when to take action and when to refer

Other

·      Other duties as needed.
