International Finance Officer, Myanmar
The International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) is a worldwide network of judges and lawyers united in affirming international law and rule of law principles that advance human rights.
We are seeking to recruit an International Finance Officer who will be responsible for providing financial services for DANIDA supported projects and ensuring accurate financial information and compliance with internal financial procedures and reporting standards.
This position is based in Myanmar.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the overall supervision of the Asia-Pacific Regional Director and in close collaboration with ICJ staff and the team from the Danish Institute of Human Rights, The International Finance Officer will be responsible for:
- Plan and coordinate the financial activities of the projects in Myanmar implemented;
- Verify the accuracy and conformity of accounting documents and entries including Petty Cash & Bank Reconciliations, Cash Registers and Bank Reconciliations;
- Prepare programme/project budgets; analyse and monitor budget-to-actual variances, and participate in budget’s re-alignment processes;
- Prepare internal financial reports and provide financial information to Project staff;
Produce donor’s financial reports;
- Coordinating data collection for external and project specific audits;
- Participate in the implementation of Internal Control System and elaboration of financial control tools;
- Participate in the definition of Financial Procedures and Accounting Guidelines;
- Provide technical support to financial and administrative staff in Myanmar by direct training on financial procedures and accounting software.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have:
Education & Experience
- Degree in Accounting or Business Administration;
- Knowledge of analytical accounting;
- 5 years experience as an accountant or financial officer, one of which with supervision of junior staff;
- Experience within an INGO an asset;
- Experience working in Myanmar, South East or South Asia is highly desirable;
- Experience in working on DANIDA or other European funded projects desirable.
Essential Skills
- Planning and Organisational Skills;
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Spread sheet and Word-processing programmes. Knowledge of Accounting software an asset (SageX3);
Fluent in written and spoken English and Burmese. Skills in Danish and/or French an asset;
- Teamwork and interpersonal skills;
- Openness and flexibility, capacity to adapt to changing priorities and needs;
- Commitment to human rights and the rule of law.
