Context:

Under the overall supervision of Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Media and Communications Officer, the general objectives of the photographs are: to document IOM Thailand activities on an ad-hoc over a period of two months from May to June, as directed by the IOM Thailand Media and Communications Officer in high-resolution, professional photographs. The Consultancy is contributing: IOM Thailand exhibition for World Day against Trafficking in Persons at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. The objective of the exhibition is to promote awareness of human trafficking among the public and highlight the work of IOM in the area of counter-trafficking. Photos taken will also contribute to a repository as a stock photos for use when needed.

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

 

  1. The Consultant will take photographs of IOM Thailand activities in order to present a final set of at least 200 finalized and edited photographs of said subjects to IOM.

 

  1. The Consultant is not expected to record any video, any sound or any other audiovisual output.

 

  1. The photographs will be taken on an ad-hoc basis depending on the needs of IOM Thailand over a period of two months between May and June 2017. The Consultant is expected to arrive at the agreed times and remain present throughout the event. The initial tentative schedule is as follows: Ranong (22 May-24 May), Isaan (25 May-26 May), Bangkok (29 May). Please note that these dates are subject to change.

 

  1. The photo sessions will take place in various locations around Thailand, including Bangkok, Isaan and Ranong.

 

  1. Edit, format and archive the photography outcome on DVD/CD or through web-based shared folder (Dropbox), for handover to IOM Thailand. Images shall be in digital format (RAW, original JPEGs or any other mutually agreed formats with IOM; and with a minimum resolution of 7360 x 4912 pixels and for a print size of 3240 x 2160 pixels, compatible for printing A4 size, for use on websites and presentations.

 

  1. The photographs shall be delivered to IOM for its review and feedback no later than 30 June 2017; and the final finished, approved photos submitted no later than 7 July 2017.

 

  1. IOM will review all of the images/photographs taken by the Consultant pursuant to this contract. Following delivery to IOM of the images/photographs in the format and manner described above, all traces of such images/photographs must be completely destroyed by the Consultant who must provide IOM with a certificate of such destruction.

 

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Thai or foreign national;
  • A university degree in social sciences, law, political science or related field, a master’s degree is not required but preferred;
  • Experience with an international or intergovernmental organization working on issues related to migrant and vulnerable populations in Thailand is an advantage;
  • Capacity to work independently with minimum supervision;
  • Personal commitment, efficiency, and flexibility;
  • Gender sensitive. Culture sensitive, able to work with colleagues from different cultural backgrounds;
  • Understanding of norms of professional ethics as well as client‐oriented
  • Experience in working effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from various cultures and professional backgrounds at all levels;
  • Confident user of MS Office and photo editing applications;
  • Able to write captions and short paragraphs/stories to accompany photos;
  • Good writing, communication and negotiation skills;
  • Fluency in English language;
  • Working knowledge of Thai, Burmese, Lao or Khmer language is an advantage;
  • Understanding of International norms and domestic law on counter trafficking in persons and victim protection assistance in Thailand is an advantage.

 

Languages

 

Fluency in English. Knowledge of Thai, Burmese, Lao and Khmer is an advantage.

Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighbouring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
