Context:

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator (Migrant Assistance) and the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission of IOM Thailand, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing a regional data collection tool, and assisting in the cleaning, refinement and analysis of databases and reporting of results to support information management.

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities will include the following tasks:

 

  1. Support the capturing, storing and sharing of humanitarian knowledge; analyse information received from IOM’s field offices; and generate a number of relevant documents.

 

  1. Assist in undertaking research to support and enhance IOM’s data collection tools and analyze incoming data.

 

  1. Contribute to regular reporting on and dissemination of information gathered by the field missions.

 

  1. Prepare draft technical reports, statistical analyses, information bulletins and other relevant information related to the project.

 

  1. Provide technical support to field missions in the development, implementation and evaluation of the data tool and other information management activities.

 

  1. Develop new or revise current survey and assessment forms, queries and reports as required.

 

  1. Assist in the coordination of internal and external capacity-building initiatives.

 

  1. Design and organize regular training sessions on the data collection tool and on the job training to project staff in the region in order to promote adherence to agreed standards of implementation; encourage widespread use of appropriate data collection methods; and gather feedback regarding the effectiveness of these methods.

 

  1. Assist in data entry, database use and troubleshooting.

 

  1. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in Statistics or related field, or, alternatively, an equivalent combination of related education and professional experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of statistics, survey and assessment methodologies.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, efficiency and flexibility.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and quality and capacity to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and creative thinking.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.

 

Languages

Fluency in English

Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighbouring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
