USAID COMET Project Is Looking for

English-Vietnamese Web Content Translator (Consultant)

The USAID-funded Connecting the Mekong through Education and Training (USAID COMET) project will help universities and vocational centers to increase the number of skilled workers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, Accounting and Tourism (STEM+AT) fields in the Lower Mekong countries: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.  COMET seeks to bridge the gap between the private sector, universities and vocational centers in order to ensure the supply of skilled workers meets the demands from local businesses.  The project will rely on mobile technology, online learning, and traditional in-person workshops to promote regional networking in ASEAN and to help people from rural and marginalized areas access educational services.

To support our job-seeker audience, the project is working with YouRock, an online skills profile development website aimed at young people. It allows youth to create dynamic a skills profile by matching users’ everyday activities with work skills and describing them in the language of employers.

By working together with YouRock, the project will support multilingual platforms in the Lower Mekong sub-region to better reach our target audience. The project is therefore looking for an English-Vietnamese translator to translate web content from English into Vietnamese. Please refer to the content for translating on this weblink.

Responsibilities:

• Translate YouRock platform user navigation content (e.g. Menu, profile page, skills page) from English into Vietnamese. The translation of the content must be accurate and convey the same style and tone of original message;
• Translate YouRock blogs, other supporting resources and social media messaging in the style that is engaging for youth who are the project’s main audiences; and
• Willing to work with USAID COMET team to review and revise the translated content for accuracy and style that meet the objectives of the project; and
• Deliver completed translation in satisfactory quality within 60 days after start date.

Qualifications:

• Must have proven translation experience preferably in the context of careers, human resources development and/or organizational development;
• Experience on web content translation is strongly preferred;
• Self-disciplined and self-motivated with an ability to meet the deadline;
• Excellent proficiency in English and Vietnamese
• Knowledge of website structure and user navigation would be an advantage
