LINKAGES is a USAID-funded project managed by FHI 360 aimed at accelerating the Thai HIV/AIDS response to recruit, reach, test, treat and retain populations in HIV prevention, care, and treatment services. The project focuses primarily on MSM and transwomen (TG) women but is slated to expand to serve female sex workers (FSW) and people who inject drugs (PWID). LINKAGES Thailand support directly Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and a technical agency (Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre – TRCARC) to implement key strategies and activities to ensure effective linkages and retention of key populations in the continuum of prevention to care and treatment (or HIV Cascade). These interventions are currently implemented in Bangkok, Chonburi (Pattaya), Chiang Mai and Hat Yai provinces but the project may expand to other provinces to cover other key populations. All supported CBOs are involved in the direct or indirect provision of services at the different stages of the HIV Cascade and received program and technical assistance from TRCARC and LINKAGES Thailand to ensure technically sounds activities to improve the HIV Cascade and supporting the development of effective community-lead health services. TRCARC and LINKAGES Thailand are also implementing research aimed to assess the effectiveness of new approaches for improving the HIV Cascade and supporting community engagement. These studies are mainly implemented by LINKAGES partners (CBOs and the technical agency) but also directly by LINKAGES Thailand (FHI 360) and in collaboration with key stakeholders such as the Thai Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).
LINKAGES Thailand is seeking for a Database Programmer to provide tactical support to their research and program teams in terms of data storage and management, especially on developing and maintaining databases to respond to the project needs in terms of research and program monitoring. With the guidance of the research and program teams, he or she will perform standard analysis for the program. This position is based in Bangkok and travels to targeted provinces are expected
Accountabilities
Work closely with LINKAGES research and program to identify needs in terms of database development and statistical analyses to address project research questions or program monitoring needs
Develop databases (such as ACCESS), preferably web-based database, for storing and organizing data to analyze, identify and report trends and ensure the management of the database security and maintenance
Assist with importing, cleaning, transforming, and validating data
Perform data entry and validation to ensure accuracy, completeness and legibility of data
Collaborate with LINKAGES partners on the design, documentation, testing and implementation of research data studies
Develop 1) data dictionary describing contents, format, and structure of each database and the relationship between its elements, to monitor access to and manipulation of the database; and 2) codebook, which will be used by LINKAGES research and program team and partners, describing all the fields and codes used in each database developed
Maintain updated log tracking any changes performed in data in the database(s)
Ensures the integrity of project/program data, including data extraction, storage, manipulation, processing and analysis
Monitor and maintain the quality nature of database systems
Assist LINKAGES research and program teams and partners to prepare customized datasets (exported from database) by defining logical aspects of datasets, and share customized datasets with research team and partners
Coordinate and work closely with colleagues to try and identify data quality related problems and solve them
Collaborate with LINKAGES research and program teams to perform standard statistical analyses needed for research or project monitoring and to prepare presentations to share with partners
Participate in ongoing decisions concerning data collections, study design, methodology, and data analysis for both research and program
Assist LINKAGES research and program teams in the preparation of reports (e.g., quarterly reports) and workplan development, and prepare report summarizing research project results as needed
