As a key member of the communication team, in agreement and collaboration with the communications manager, the social media officer ensures that the delegation's positioning is clearly defined and communicated, notably through digital media and manages the budget accordingly.
Your main responsibilities:
- Create and implement the digital strategy for the regional delegation.
- Coordinates with the communications focal point in the Phenom Penh Office, other communication colleagues in the Bangkok delegation, and the digital team at headquarters to develop and implement activities.
- Strengthen the reach and understanding of the ICRC in Thailand, Cambodia, and the wider region of Asia Pacific.
- Creates, monitors and evaluates content for the delegation’s country pages on icrc.org, Thai blog and Facebook/Twitter accounts of the ICRC in the region, and provides appropriate interaction with social media users. Coordinates with communications in Phenom Penh for respective pages.
- Proposes initiatives to promote ICRC and IHL on external media platforms (traditional, online and social).
- Provides regular and ad hoc reports/analyses of the social media landscape in the region covered and of ICRC’s perception on social media platforms (in coordination with the communication focal point in Phenom Penh). Coordinates with the media monitoring focal point.
- Maintains network of influencers among online, social media, and research agencies.
- Assesses the impact of ICRC's digital communication activities especially in Thailand and Cambodia and adapts accordingly.
- Complies with ICRC corporate identity and standards.
- Supports the editing and writing of various content i.e., press releases, news articles, etc.
Your education and experience:
- Master degree or equivalent in communication, journalism or similar field.
- A minimum of 4 years of work experience in a similar field.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent analytical and writing skills.
- Confirmed capacity to analyse the political and social environment.
Competencies requirements:
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English and Thai.
- Knowledge of a broad range of digital communication techniques and tools, with technical skills in delivering communication outputs.
- Expertise in the use of RSS, Hootsuite, Tweetdeck, Drupal or other HTML coding, MailChimp, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Premiere Pro/other video editing softwares.
- Outstanding knowledge of social media platforms and strategies as well as knowledge of different crowdsourcing methodologies.
- High degree of organization, strong priority-setting skills and ability to work on tight deadlines.
- Proven capacity to work in a team.
- Responsible and autonomous; shows initiative, thinks "out of the box", remains flexible and can work across various units/departments.
- Enjoy travelling in the region and beyond with possibility to work on some weekends as needed.
