In our comittment to help those most in need in their right to education, Help without Frontiers Foundation Thailand is looking for a project assistant for our Education team.
REPORT TO: MLC Project coordinator
LIAISES WITH: Project coordinators, Education Programme Manager, Other HwF Managers and Staffs
OBJECTIVES:
Take a supportive role in assisting the Project coordinator in the organizing, facilitating, implementation, teacher interaction and reporting of the 15 Ray of Hope Schools (Migrant Learning Centres) in Mae Sot, Mae Ramat and Phop Phra overseen by Help without Frontiers (HwF).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Connect and follow up with projects activities of the Education program.
- Translating documents (reports, meeting notes, agendas etc.) in Burmese and English.
- Facilitating work flows between with Ray of Hope (RoH) Schools and teachers.
- Organize and plan for teacher training of teachers in RoH schools.
- Communicate, share information and participate in meetings with Thai and Myanmar Ministries of Education.
- Updating information from individual schools over the course of the school year.
- Together with Education team, take responsibility for the planning and carrying out of common activities.
- Supporting the partnership with NGOs and local CBOs.
- Assist the project coordinator and the programme manager in the reporting of activities and projects as well as project proposals.
TASKS:
- The Assistant takes on a supportive role in the coordination of the support of HwF's programme with Migrant Learning Centres (MLCs).
The MLC project Assistant helps the MLC team (Coordinator and Assistant), the Education team and other HwF departments in various tasks.
- Specific tasks to be performed in collaboration with MLC team:
- Meetings: Monthly Headmaster, School agreement; School bus driver; Pre-service Teacher meeting.
- Ray of Hope school and dormitory renovation issues.
- Training of Teachers and School Headmaster management.
- Manage, organize and follow up teacher training carried out by Mobile Education Partnership (MEP).
- Yearly Teacher Orientation one-day conference.
- Preparing Scholarship for students in Ray of Hope Schools.
- Visit to communities in Mae Sot, Phop Phra and Mae Ramat, including yearly community visits and Rays of Hope school headmaster trip.
- Participate in Rays of Hope School activities and ceremonies (opening and closing ceremonies and others).
- Work together with Myanmar Ministry of Education in carrying out the Board exams and pre-test in the MLCs program.
- Meeting with Ministry of Education.
- Supporting the Program Manager in various other work tasks where appropriate.
- Supporting other projects/programs within HwF (Rays of Youth, Health, Child Protection, Admin/Finance) when needed.
SKILLS:
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic office computer programs, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Participate in team and professional development activities.
- Worked with education projects in past.
- The Project Assistant can communicate, write and report in Myanmar and English language.
Other languages such as Thai language are also appreciated.
- Ability to comply with all organizational policies and procedures, legislation and agreements, including reporting policy and health and safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with HwF management and other members of staff to achieve continuous improvement in service delivery to migrant communities.
- Able to collaborate with others well in the office as well as in the field, including other NGOs, government bodies and community members.
- Can perform well under pressure, including the occasional weekend assignment.
- Free to travel to field sites in and around Mae Sot border area.
- Flexibility in planning and carrying out program activities including.
- Driver's license is a plus.
