HelpAge International Asia Pacific Regional Office is currently seeking a qualified candidate to support our work in Asia Pacific region.
Position: Finance Assistant
Work base: Asia Pacific Regional Office in Chiang Mai
Contract length: Two years (with possible extension)

Salary: 22,000 – 32,000 THB negotiable and depending on experience
Condition: This position is opened for Thai nationals only
Job purpose:
The Finance Assistant works in partnership with the three other finance staff to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the finance function in the APRO. Although the post holder is line managed by the Regional Finance Manager, they will also be expected to support the work of the Regional Finance Officers as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
To provide support in the following areas:
General Accounting:
- To maintain and administer the office petty cash account
- To be responsible for the allocation of travel advances, maintaining and reconciling the accounts as necessary
- To be responsible for the cashiering function, ensuring the all banking is undertake promptly and bank records are up-to-date and accurate
- To maintain the accounts for all payments made in the Chiang Mai office, making payments and liasing with staff and suppliers as necessary
- To produce the APRO’s monthly accounts and cash and bank reconciliations (including journals), ensuring the correctness of coding and reconciliations.
Project Reporting (for designated programmes):
- To work with Regional Programmes Advisers/Managers and Project Officers, ensuring correctness of financial reports from member & partners
- To work with the relevant staff to produce project budgets and forecasts as required, including the detailed budget sheets (DBSs)
- To review and make sure the correctness of partners’ monthly accounts and cash & bank reconciliations for submission into SUN system, for designated countries and programmes
- To produce donor reports
- To ensure that supporting documentation is compliant with HelpAge & donor requirement
- To contribute to the work of internal audit
Project Reporting (for all programmes):
- To produce the monthly monitoring reports
- To support the Regional Finance Manager and Regional Finance Officers in their work regarding the financial management of programmes
Others:
- To organise effectively on all financial records and information in the filing system
- To conduct the interim and annual verification of the inventory
- To contribute to the efficient running of the team by assisting in the development of procedures and the improvement of standards across organisation working in conjunction with the Regional Finance Manager and Regional Finance Officers
- To perform other tasks as assigned by the Regional Finance Manager
Person Specification:
The post holder will require the following competencies, skills and experience:
Essential:
- Thai national
- Bachelor’s degree in accountancy
- Good command of spoken and written English
- Accounting and financial experience
- Basic knowledge of current international accounting, procedures, standards and financial issues
- Skill in preparing and maintaining accurate accounting records, financial statements and budgets
- Experience of maintaining finance systems and procedures
- Skill in cash management (cashiering and cash transaction) including cash
- disbursement and cheque payments
- Good interpersonal skills
Desirable:
- Experience of working in a multi and/or international disciplinary team
- Experience of working for an INGO
- Skill in budget development for funding proposals
- Experience in working with members and partners on financial information and financial reports
