Thailand Country Coordinator for new project : Network for Peace

JOB SUMMARY:
 

The 5-year USAID-funded activity will focus on strengthening initiatives in Asia to promote regional security and amplify moderate voices of peace and tolerance by convening stakeholders and building the capacity of moderate leaders, civil society groups, media, and local organizations to address drivers of conflict and violent extremism and promote tolerance and inclusion across the societal divisions. The program supports and complements bilateral CVE and conflict mitigation programs.

The qualified candidate will be based in Bangkok, Thailand, and will coordinate activities in-country and in the sub-region. The candidate will liaise with other country coordinators in Myanmar and Thailand, and report to the Thailand based Chief of Party. S/he will serve as Acting Chief of Party when the CoP is away from post.

 

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, oversee, manage and coordinate a portfolio of grantees in Thailand, Cambodia, and Lao PDR. The incumbent will:  i) oversee the design and development of technical and organizational training/mentoring for grantees in Thailand; ii) Coordinate with relevant USAID implementing partners in Thailand, Cambodia and Lao PDR; iii) Conduct regular contextual analysis and provide updates with recommendations to inform strategic and programmatic decisions.
  • Work with the CoP on developing workplans, budgets, managing grants, project materials, and information. The incumbent will be expected to produce timely and high-quality work plans with programmatic, financial, technical reports.
  • Oversee and represent the project with selected external audiences in the sub-region. This will include building and maintaining solid relationships between and among FHI 360, USAID, other relevant donor-funded initiatives, government representatives and civil society stakeholders;
  • Maintain regular communication with FHI 360 project staff in Yangon, Colombo, and Washington;
  • Support other project personnel as needed, including but not limited to country coordinators in Myanmar and Sri Lanka, and more junior personnel in the regional team.
  • Work closely with the COP to ensure incorporation of cross-cutting principles of good programming, including GESI and DNH.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences, international development, community development, peacebuilding and conflict management or other relevant fields (advanced degree preferred);
  • At least eight (8) years of experience in relevant management, supervisory, technical experience working with programs that are of a similar scope and scale to this program;
  • Demonstrated ability to exert sound judgment and manage teams and projects with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in civil society strengthening, peacebuilding, countering violent extremism, media strengthening, dialogue facilitation, other related fields;
  • Experience in South/Southeast Asia required;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of USAID rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to project and program compliance and reporting;
  • Demonstrated experience working alongside project stakeholders to deliver impact within agreed timelines;
  • Fluency in Thai and English required. Knowledge of other regional languages a plus.
