Prevention was established by the Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Center (TRCARC) with the aim to conduct research on effective prevention of HIV/AIDS and related diseases and to develop efficient HIV/AIDS prevention and management strategies for key populations at national and international levels.
PREVENTION was first established as “Special Activity Group” in 2003 with the mission to conduct research on the prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission (PMTC). With expansion of its scope, the group was renamed “Prevention Unit” in 2014 to reflect its central role and key focus in HIV prevention research.
Role Overview: The Technical Support Officer will manage and support the design, implementation, monitoring and reporting of overarching HIV programs. Under the Program and Technical Director (for Technical Support Team), this position will work to support and ensure timely and successful progress of the program activities. The Technical Support Officer will provide technical leadership on designated thematic areas (e.g. same day ART, Princess PrE, Differentiated HIV Service Delivery), and strengthen the capacities of key-population-led organizations to provide and deliver high quality HIV services in the respective area of expertise, and contribute to the efforts to strengthen the role of key populations in ending the HIV epidemic among key populations.
Core Accountability & Responsibility:
1. Managing and supporting all aspects of the technical area of expertise, including ensuring that activities are implemented according to standard operating procedures, coordination of training activities, and development of tools, materials, and reports
2. Ensuring effective project plans are in place and working proactively with the related teams to set priorities in accordance with project plan, study protocol, standard operating procedures (SOPs), ICH/GCP guidelines and regulatory requirements
3. Providing technical assistance to KP-led organizations and partnering hospitals on the specific area of expertise
4. Fostering collaboration among implementing partners and represent the Thai Red Cross PREVENTION to advocate for KPLHS at all levels
5. Ensuring effective planning and monitoring activities with the data and monitoring team
6. Supervising Junior Technical Officer under team
7. Contributing to the development of presentations and publications of study progress and key findings
Qualifications and Experience
1. Thai citizen only
2. Masters degree in management, public health, social sciences and/or related field
3. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in relevant HIV project management and implementation science research experience required
4. At least 3 years’ experience in managing moderately complex projects and studies
5. Working with government and local partners and institutions to influence program and policy change and develop capacity to conduct and use research
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to make sound judgment and decisions
7. Good communication, writing, presentation and facilitation skills
8. Experience in program management, monitoring and evaluation and reporting in diverse settings (preferred)
