Position Title:            Watch Stander- Earthquake, Tsunami and Ocean

                                  (Thai Nationality)

 

Open Period:             13 February 2020 – 29 February 2020

 

Position Description: The Watch Stander- Earthquake, Tsunami and Ocean supports earthquake observation, calculation, and interpretation for the location of an earthquake, magnitude determination, evaluation of its potential to generate a tsunami, evaluation of the degree of tsunami threat, and in the preparation of relevant tsunami messages.  He/She shall mainly support the agternoon and night work shift.

 

Duty Station:             RIMES Regional Facility, Asian Institute of Technology campus, Pathumthani, Thailand

 

Type of Contract:       One-year initially, renewable for longer term on excellent performance

 

Remuneration and Benefits:

  • Monthly base salary negotiable
  • Housing allowance
  • Health, life insurance
  • Annual leave allowance of 24 days

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge:          At least Technical Diploma in any computer-related program

Experience:          Experience in Unix/Linux operating systems is desired, but not required

Skills and Abilities:  Basic reading and speaking English proficiency

Personal Qualities:  Preferably Thai national, sound judgment and reasoning ability, emotional stability, excellent inter-personal skills and team-oriented work style, interest in working in a multi-cultural environment, strong desire to learn, willingness to work hard, a good sense of humor and fun, but with seriousness on the quality and excellence of work
