Job Title: Driver
Location: Umphang
Background/IRC Summary:

Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son provinces
Job Overview/Summary: To achieve safe transportation and effective vehicle maintenance including support service in timely manner in compliance with IRC Thailand’s guiding principles and rules and regulations
Major Responsibilities:
- To ensure efficient driving and maintenance of IRC vehicle in compliance with IRC rules and regulations (vehicle policy etc.,)
- To ensure the efficient condition and readiness for use of vehicle as well as its maintenance on daily basis in compliance with IRC Thailand’s procedure
- To enact safe driving practices at all times for all IRC Staff and visitors
Specific Responsibilities:
- Serve as a driver for IRC staff and visitors in a timely manner, in strict adherence to traffic rules and safe driving practices
- Perform regular vehicle checks according to IRC Thailand’s procedure
- Keep vehicle clean and check vehicle’s condition every time before and after each journey
- Ensure all vehicle documentation, camp passes etc., are in vehicle before each journey
- Complete vehicle log sheets after each journey
- To take care of vehicle’s using license annually
- To transport documents, materials or other items to appropriate destinations as requested by supervisor.
- Assist with minor repairs to vehicles and/or IRC office as required
- To ensure communication tools are in good working order (Walky talky, car radio etc.,)
- Drive vehicles to transfer patients to Hospital, Patient House or other location as assigned
- Stand by and stay overnight in Camp to pick or drop patients in an emergency situation
- To perform other duties as assigned Position Reports to: Health Program Officer Technical Oversight / Support by :Health Program Officer, Logistics Officer and Senior Drier Technical Oversight/Support to: Programs and operations staff
Job Requirements:
Education Work Experience and/or Demonstrated Abilities
- At least certificate of Highschool education(M.3)
- At least 3 years’ experience in driving with official driving license.
- Experience in Off road and driving through adverse road conditions is an advantage
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance
Language skills
- Fluent read, written and spoken Thai
- Karen, Burmese is an advantage
Other Skills
- Strong coordination with staff during providing transport assistance
- Good decision making
