Organizational Setting and Work Relationships:
Consistent with comprehensive responses as provided in the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR), the role of the Policy Associate is to assist with research, coordination and presentation of information contributing to the development of guidance, positions, and comprehensive protection and solutions policies for operations and populations of concern in the region.
The Policy Associate is a member of the policy section within the Regional Bureau (or Division) and broadly supports the policy analysis and development function. The Policy Associate ideally reports to and is guided by the Senior Policy Advisor or the Senior Policy Officer.
The Policy Associate will engage with colleagues in other units, services and functional divisions, including at headquarters and in field operations. The incumbent may assist in coordinating with external stakeholders, including government actors, civil society, regional organizations, the private sector and persons of concern.

An applicant who has internal status is a staff member holding an indefinite or fixed-term appointment in any duty station in the country. Former UNHCR General Service staff members, having held an indefinite or fixed-term appointment for an uninterrupted period of at least one year may apply for internally advertised vacancies at their previous grade or equivalent or one grade above, if the seniority requirements are met, for a period of two years following separation (if such criteria are not met, former staff members can still apply as external candidates).
