Position Title: Translator, USAID/RDMA Regional Communications Support Platform

Reporting to: Communications/Project Manager/IDIQ Manager

FHI 360 is pursuing an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with USAID/Regional Development Mission for Asia (RDMA) under USAID/RDMA Regional Communications Support Platform Activity. The contract will provide a wide range of public outreach and communications services to the mission and clients in Asia. These services are expected to raise awareness about the development challenges the people of Asia face and encourage support from the government, civil society, and private sector partners to address these challenges alongside USAID.

This position is contingent upon award of the IDIQ, with a five-year ordering period. The position would ideally be based in Bangkok or Asia, though other locations are possible provided the candidate is available during USAID/RDMA Bangkok working hours and can remotely work on undertaking task order activities.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Translator/Interpreter will be responsible for converting written materials and/or spoken

statements from one or more source languages into the target language, ensuring translated texts and/or statements convey original meaning and tone. Apart from communication materials such as press release, newsletter, social media communications, this also includes translating other forms of communications; for example, subtitles, closed captioning, and transcription of a video. In addition, s/he will also serve as interpreter at seminars, speeches, meetings, and public events, providing consecutive or simultaneous translation between languages.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Translator will be required to keep abreast of the USAID Style Guide to ensure the translated materials, in case of English being the target language, adhere to the general rules set forth by the Style Guide.
2. Interprets written or spoken material into one or more other languages, ensures meaning and context are maintained
3. Ensure that interpretations are accurate and remain consistent throughout translations.
4. Translates video, and online media by providing subtitles
5. Must be able to produce documents in a rapid manner that are clear and coherent.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Must have 3-4 years of professional experience in translation and interpretation (simultaneous and consecutive)
2. Bachelor's Degree or higher in any field
3. Relevant experience or knowledge in international development industry will be strongly considered
4. Fluent English and at least one other language (preferable Thai)
5. Available on call for task order activity
