We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Laboratory Technician

JOB TITLE: Laboratory Technician

REPORTS TO: Laboratory Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

Laboratory Technician II (Equipment and Calibration) assists the Laboratory Manager in coordination of work, and is responsible for overseeing laboratory equipment, including calibration, maintenance and estimation of uncertainty of measurement, in addition to performing tests on condoms at the PQC Bangkok Laboratory.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee laboratory equipment, including calibration, maintenance and estimation of uncertainty of measurement
• Identify all the component of uncertainty of measurement and make a reasonable estimation
• Update Standard Operating Procedures or instructions on the use and maintenance of lab equipment
• Ensure that Laboratory Technicians operate Laboratory equipment in according with prescribed
• Procedures and/or equipment manual
• Report to Laboratory Manager immediately as soon as observe overloading, mishandling, suspect results or deficiencies of lab equipment or machines
• Oversee cleanliness and orderliness of Condoms Testing Laboratory
• Maintain equipment history records
• Perform routine condoms testing
• Perform prescribed procedures on product submissions and related materials.
• Assist with special projects to determine level of acceptability as assigned.
• Assist Laboratory Manager in training of new staff.
• Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
• Establish and maintain laboratory data records.
• Correlate data, write and issue internal laboratory test reports as instructed.
• Maintain adequate spare parts of laboratory equipment.
• Maintain calibration and maintenance records in compliance with established SOPs. Perform other related duties as assigned.

CONTRIBUTION:

• Establish, maintain and update calibration and maintenance plan
• Establish and maintain calibration records
• Analyze suspect test data or calibration results.
• Establish trouble shooting or corrective/preventive action report on lab equipment or machines
• Update Standard Operating Procedures or instructions on the use and maintenance of lab equipment
• Establish and maintain laboratory data records.
• Correlate data, write and issue internal laboratory test reports as instructed.
• Maintain inventory of samples and product retains.
• Maintain adequate laboratory supplies.
• Maintain laboratory records and files as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERTISE AND COMPLEXITY:

Knowledge

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in any fields.
• Education background in science, rubber technology, engineer, physics or chemistry is preferable
• Work-experience in testing  laboratory is preferable

Skill/Abilities

• Ability to report to supervisor on variances and status on regular basis
• Ability to use computer programs such as Ms Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point etc.
• Ability to speak and write English and Thai
• Ability to use judgment to execute duties and responsibilities
• Good problem solving skills

• Coordinate laboratory audit / Annually

SUPERVISORY AND BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY:

• Assist Laboratory Manager in supervising laboratory staff and serve as interim Laboratory Manager when the Laboratory Manager is absent
• Oversee laboratory equipment, including calibration, maintenance and estimation of uncertainty of measurement
• Ensure that Laboratory Technicians operate Laboratory equipment in according with prescribed procedures and/or equipment manual
• Report to Laboratory Manager immediately as soon as observe overloading, mishandling, suspect results or deficiencies of lab equipment or machines
• Oversee cleanliness and orderliness of Condoms Testing Laboratory

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch break each day
• Working time from 8:00-5:00 p.m. or flexible working hours, as instructed
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (generally less than 5% of work time); occasional exposure to noise, odor and chemicals

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Thai National.
• Diploma or Bachelor Degree in any fields.
• Education background in Science, Rubber Technology, Engineer, Physics or Chemistry is preferable
• Minimum 3-5 years working experience in testing laboratory is preferable
• Demonstrated experience in maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment is preferable.
• Knowledge of analytical testing procedures, equipment and product standards.
